About this listen

Humans and Werewolves do not mix. I tried that once and all I have to show for it is a broken heart. No thanks.

When I have to pretend that Daphne is my mate in order to find the mystical artifact threatening my clan, I know it's going to end badly. But I'll do anything to save my family, so I decide to act like the cheerful bookworm with the body of a goddess doesn't affect me in the least.

Which was a big fat lie even before I discovered the one thing that would make all of this ten times more complicated. You see Daphne is my true mate.

Now every day that I spend with her is a special kind of torture. Her very touch makes my body burn with desires I'd buried a long time ago. I need to claim Daphne, to make her mine.

But I can't, I won't. She may accept that I'm a Werewolf, but Daphne doesn't know the dark beast that lurks under my skin. If she did, she'd run screaming.

So I'm going to keep my distance, for both our sakes. And when the mission is done, I'm setting her free. Even if I have to tear my heart out to do it.

Contains mature themes.

weirdly good

Fraser & Daphne: triggers- borderline bestiality. This book is good but definitely takes some liberties that are hard to imagine. Though keeping in mind that this is a paranormal romance, I can kind of get past that. Fraser is the second in command of his clan and his clan is in trouble so he goes to the archival to get help. Daphne is a researcher of artifacts and is called upon to help find an artifact spelled to cause chaos anyone the werewolves. So Daphne agrees to pretend to be Fraser's mate in order to be among the clan and search. Only once Fraser gives her the mating bite, he realizes she is his true mate. There's a lot of push and pull with him but they are definitely hot together. Their romance was hot in a really weird sort of way. I won't say more than that but let's just say that the werewolf's true form is a two legged creature with wolf features but acts, speaks and has feelings like a man. Totally weird but the actual story was interesting.

worth the read

it was nice to have a thick woman as the main character instead of the usual super model skinny

Interesting twist on paranormal

This book presents a new and interesting twist on paranormal/supernatural beings. The challenges in this book are a new idea and interesting one. The main FMC has an objective and to get where she needs to go she has to enter into a fake relationship. Now I realize fake relationships always end up real in the end but this adventure puts up different challenges. Sometimes I felt the story was a bit rushed and sometimes a bit slow. When you average it out, you get a quirky MFC and a grumpy MMC who ultimately have very poor communication skills while on a dangerous assignment. This isn’t a heavy book but more of an easy listen on days when you brain doesn’t want had pulls on your emotions. Also, Matt Stonner does an extraordinary job. I will be following him for future listen to his Scottish accent. Just wow!! This was my first book by this author and I will watch for others in the future when I want an easy listen high heat book.

sweet story

the only thing I found I disliked was one character voice. Everything else I really enjoyed. I will definitely listen to this again and recommend it to friends.

Too slow

It took all I could muster to finish this book; it wasn’t an attention grabber. It took so long to get to the action, or somewhat action. The narrators did a good job.
