They just can't write like this any more

After listening to authors with a mastery of the English language it makes it hard to read contemporary fiction.
this collection had a few stories I have heard before but they don't get old.
I wish my command of the language was half a good so that I could give an adequate review. the stories were good sometimes predictable but with these it is the journey not the destination that counts.
the narration was suburb.
I thoroughly enjoyed the listen

Great stories, performance grating

Love the stories. Narrator drives me nuts. Have heard English accents before,(I'm a Yank) but I don't know if this is a regional one but have never heard so many words pronounced so oddly. For me the voice is grating. However the reading is quite good and animated without the affectation of trying to create voices for each character which so often detracts from a reading. Overall it's worth 4 stars even so.

Poor Narration

This narrator/reader mispronounced many words because she fails to bother with the context. it is as though she is a mere automaton with incomplete and erroneous programing. she needs to learn to pay attention as she reads. many times she seems to be reading line-by-line rather than sentence-by-sentence. I have made similar evaluations in previous books narrated by this person, so she is consistently making the same mistakes.

Wonderfully written and read

I am so glad I didn't read the other reviews on this book before I bought it. I thought it was very well read and very easy to understand. The stories were interesting. As with all books with a lot of different writers some stories I liked better then others. I'm so glad I bought this book.

Disappointed

I was excited about this collection, but I could not get past the narrator. Her pace and inflection led me to focus on her voice and style of narration at the expense of the stories. I couldn't get past it, and ended up quitting this book after only a couple of tales.

Poor narration

Narrator speaks in a monotonous voice throughout. Could not make it through two tales! Grating voice to listen to.
