I have a 10-year-old son, and while he’s not quite ready for all the concepts in this book yet, I know this is going to come in handy in just a few short years. I’ve been looking for something that could teach him the value of money in a way that actually makes sense—and Financial Skills for Teens does exactly that.

It explains things like budgeting, saving, debt, and even investing without using complicated language or boring lectures. It’s straightforward and relatable, which is exactly what teens need. I especially liked how it gives real-life examples and shows how even small steps—like saving lunch money or setting goals—can add up to something meaningful.

Honestly, I wish I had something like this when I was growing up. I had to learn the hard way through trial and error, but this book gives kids a real shot at starting off strong. I’m holding onto it for my son because I know when the time comes, it’s going to be an incredible resource to help him feel confident with money and make smart choices early on.

This book is exactly the kind of guide I wish every young person had access to. The author breaks down the basics of budgeting, saving, and investing in a way that’s easy to understand and super relevant to real life for our teens. The tone is encouraging without being preachy, making it perfect for young people who are just starting to think about money and independence. I especially appreciated how it teaches not just what to do, but why it matters. Great first step toward building confidence with personal finance.

I am an educator and I see a lot of young adults coming out of high school and going into college who are fairly clueless when it comes to budgeting. They understand ordering things online and paying with their smart-phone wallet app or charging to a credit card, or paying friends with Venmo. But, then usually get overdrawn or have nothing left at the end of each month. The budgeting skills taught here are straight-forward and clear. The only thing I was not as keen on was the section on investing - everyone is so different with their needs, I think this really needs to be tailored to individuals by professionals. That said - most everything else in this audiobook is very helpful and I will be sharing it with some of my new freshmen students this Fall.

I used to feel totally lost when it came to money. This audiobook actually made things click for me budgeting, saving, and even starting to invest didn’t seem so intimidating anymore. It felt like someone finally explained things in a way that made sense, without talking down to me. I’ve already started tracking what I spend, and it’s weirdly satisfying. If you're a teen and want to stop feeling clueless about money, this is honestly a solid start.

I listened to this on a weekend walk, and it just clicked. It breaks down stuff like budgeting and saving without sounding like a lecture or using words that make your brain freeze. Shawn has this easygoing tone that keeps it moving and makes it feel more like a chat than a class. I do wish there was a bit more on investing, but for getting started, it’s perfect. Honestly, this should be required listening for teens or anyone who feels lost with money. I only wish I had found it sooner.

Money stuff used to feel super confusing until this book laid it all out clearly. From budgeting lunch money to understanding how credit works, every section had real examples that actually felt doable. Loved how it didn’t assume a ton of experience and didn’t talk down either. The budgeting and saving tips are already making a difference, and the investment part? Eye opening. Even learned how to avoid dumb money mistakes that most teens make. Perfect for anyone wanting to build solid money habits early, without needing to know a thing going in.
