Publisher's summary

"Narrator Tristan Morris captures the suspense in this Florida mystery featuring three young shark-taggers, a Southern-accented detective, and a menacing poacher... Morris maintains an ominous sense of danger throughout the audiobook." (AudioFile Magazine)

From Randy Wayne White, the New York Times best-selling author of the Doc Ford series for adults, comes Fins, a high-stakes, masterfully plotted story of courage, friendship...and sharks!

The world’s shark population is in trouble for a sad, simple reason: shark fin soup. And although it’s illegal, poachers have been targeting Florida’s biannual migration of blacktip sharks.

Marine biologist Doc Ford needs some assistance protecting the sharks and enlists the help of three kids - Luke, Maribel, and Sabina. Luke is brand-new to Florida from the Midwest; sisters Maribel and Sabina have only recently arrived from Cuba - and all three feel like fish out of water. It’s going to take some convincing for them to work as a team and to recognize in themselves the courage, wisdom, and tenacity that Doc sees in them.

Together they form Sharks, Inc. and are given an important assignment: to set out each day on their small fishing boat in hopes of tagging sharks for Doc’s research - and to stay away - far away - from any possible poachers in the area.

The trio certainly isn’t looking for trouble, but when they come face to face with danger, survival requires them to rely on each of their own unique gifts, and especially on one another.

Not my favorite series

I hadn’t realized the “Sharks Incorporated” series was for middle schoolers. It is probably great for that age group. This is not an adult book however. In that light, it is simplistic. Just know what you’re getting.

Fun Read

I've read every Doc Ford, Hannah Smith and Randy Striker novel and can't wait for any upcoming book written by Mr. White.

Fins, intended for a young audience, didn't slow this 68 year old's purchase of the book for a second.

I just finished this quick read and was impressed by and appreciative of Mr. White's writing prowess to tailor his craft for a young reader audience.

I am now excited to introduce our 22 grandchildren to a new reading adventure in the characters of Maribel, Sabrina and Luke.

Thank you, Mr. White, for providing my wife and me with years of fun and informative entertainment.

Another fun read. Good characters, interesting story. I enjoy reading his stories, not too deep, fun people that you want to care about

Not a Doc Ford story

While the story was good it is not a Doc Ford
Mystery. Very little with the Doc more about the three kids adventures.

Fun book for teens

I really enjoyed this book as one which has some comedic value. But, it also has its drama. This seems like a whole new direction which I appreciate.

Fun Story About Florida Adventure

This is another great story from Randy Wayne White. I love that these kids are connected to Doc Ford and Hanna Smith. Great listen that kept me interested and engaged.

New direction for Randy Wayne White

This is a fun book to read. It's a totally different direction for White, going from Doc Ford who in this book is sponsoring 3 pre-teens to tag small sharks in Dinkums Bay, called Sharks Incorporated. It's enjoyable without the blood and gore, tho there are some nasty people and some danger for the kids. Doc Ford shows up just enough to direct the kids and Hannah appears as the aunt to Luke, who is one of the kids. Sabina, the 10 year old girl, is bratty and loudmouthed and I wanted to send her to her room or something. She's headstrong, rude, and mouthy enough to get the kids in trouble more than once. I can do without a bratty kid when I'm trying to enjoy a book. But overall, I enjoyed this book. I've read/listened to all of White's books and love them all. I'm now reading the sequel to Fins, Stingers, which features the same kids but in the Bahamas for some work this time. I see that Crocs is in Pre-Order on Audible for next year so it looks like White is sticking with Sharks Inc for the time being. I do hope he returns to the Doc Ford adventures some time soon.

BTW, to the reviewer below who complains she felt this is more of a children's book, it's advertised as a Children's Audiobook.

Randy Wayne White always pleases

Even though Doc has a small part on this tale, and Hannah has returned, the three kids make this story one that the whole family can enjoy. Their actions are believable. I enjoyed the scene with the fishing hook. No spoiler here--just something to look forward to.

Below par

Not what I expected from a typically excellent author. Predictable and lacking excitement. Might be OK for a youth audience.
