About this listen

In Fire Storm, Andrew Lane's fourth action-filled puzzler for teen Sherlock, plunges the young detective into a fight for his life as he battles to discover what has happened to his missing friends.

Young Sherlock's friend and her father have vanished. Their house looks as if nobody has ever lived in it; the neighbors claim never to have heard of them. Sherlock begins to doubt his sanity, until a clever clue points him to Scotland. Following that clue leads him into a mystery that involves kidnapping, bodysnatchers, and a man who claims he can raise the dead. Only the budding detective Sherlock can untangle the mind-bending - and dangerous - puzzles that ensnare his friends. Think you know Sherlock Holmes? Think again!

Critic reviews

"Narrator James Langton portrays 14-year-old Sherlock Holmes, ably capturing the qualities and quirks that the famed detective became so known for when he grew up. Langton demonstrates a genuine understanding of every character's motivations and deftly portrays their various foreign accents and class distinctions. As delivered by Langton, the voice of the criminal mastermind, Scobell, exudes such malice it makes one's blood run cold. This series is a must for Sherlock fans and will undoubtedly attract new ones." ( AudioFile)

Young Sherlock Holmes

Truly enjoyable books, with characters that seem as believable as Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved consulting detective

Twists that keep you going

Fantastic author. Absolutely addictive listening. Our entire family enjoy this series. Wish the rest of the books were in audio.

Good series!

What did you like best about this story?

The story was engaging and moved quickly. It completely caught and kept my interest. I listen to audio books while I do the daily five miles. These stories find me laughing and sometimes gasping out loud as I walk. These are fun and exciting stories! Hope we get the chance to listen to the other three stories that are not yet available on Audible!

What does James Langton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Daniel Weyman read the first two and James Langton read the other two. While I think that Weyman did a much better job, Langton does a good job. I'm just not fond of the American voice he uses for the American characters.

Any additional comments?

This is a really good series that I thoroughly enjoyed but only four of the seven books in this series are available at Audible. There are three published books that are not available. Snake Bite (September 2012), Knife Edge (October 2013), and Stone Cold (September 2014) are the three titles not available as audio books. I am hoping that Audible produces and releases them soon!

Wanting more early Holmes.

I look forward to Lane's next book!
Each development is a precursor to Holmes emerging personality. I say, It's Elementary !

Another well done young Holmes story

Entertaining story and well written. Much recommended. Could have done without the 2-3 instances of cursing.

My thoughts

I really liked how the whole story blends the different parts together. I would recommend this book to my friends because they like the same kinds of books that I do. I can't wait to read the next one. 📖📜
