EPIC NOVEL BASED ON REAL EVENTS Fiction;
Paperback; 440 pages

NOTE: If you have already read Spirit of Fire and Angels Among Us (Cedar Fort 2002) then you can skip this Volume 1 of the series Fire of the Spirit which is a combination of both books into one. You may want to go straight to Volume 2 Angels of Fire, That book has never before been published and was only released in April of 2020.

From John Pontius comes the story of transformation and profound blessings available to all who are willing to take the "journey." This once partially-published novel is a marked departure from Pontius' normal genre’ the author is well known for his profoundly inspirational non-fiction writings which include Visions of Glory, Journey to the Veil and Following the Light of Christ into His Presence. This new fiction series represents what is perhaps the most important message John yearned to convey, concluding that fictional narrative was the most effective way to express the transcendent life-truths he had discovered. Like all of us, Sam Mahoy deals with the normal challenges of life, but from childhood Sam learned to be receptive to the promptings of the Spirit, mastering a profound faith in God. Follow him as he faces life with courage, strength and determination in the face of daunting setbacks at every stage of his journey. From a small Idaho town to his mission in South Africa and unintended entanglements with menacing diamond smugglers, this book sets up an epic story resembling the author's own life, including actual places and spiritual events he experienced during the upward struggle of his mortal passage. Sam's gripping adventure continues in Book Two, Angels of Fire, the never-before released conclusion of his epic Journey to Zion.

This is a wonderful, faithful story. I love this story, it has everything I could want in novel; there is depth of characters, their growth, plot twists, action, intrigue, and powerful, edifying faith. I love all that I have read from this author, and deeply regret his passing because he has enriched and touched my life. Everything of his I have read has strengthened my faith. Thank you brother for being one of Gods instruments in my personal faith journey, and spiritual education.

Edifying and soul enriching.

My family joined the Latter Day Saints in the early 1800’s and have been part of GOD’s “Peculure” people ever since. John Pontius has captured our peculiarity perfectly. I know John has long since gone to his eternal rest, but I am thankful for what seems like a continuation of his testimony here.

Peculiar people

My inability to find the second book? Is this a series? There’s no indication of where to go next.

I enjoyed it right up to the… Wait, there’s no ending. Where’s the ending?
