About this listen

Rollicking Wild West Adventure and Romance from Best-Selling Author Mary Connealy

Dare Riker is a doctor who saves lives, but someone seems determined to end his. It may have something to do with the traitors he dealt with during the Civil War, or it might be related to the recent incident with Flint Greer and the ranch. Whoever the culprit is, he or she seems really fired up, and Dare can't let his guard down for a moment, which is a challenge, since right now he's trying to win the heart of the recently widowed Glynna.

Glynna Greer came west as a mail-order bride and ended up in a bad situation. Now her husband, Flint, is dead, and she's determined to care for her son and daughter on her own. She wants to believe Dare Riker is as decent as he seems, but she's terrified to lock herself into another marriage. She plans to support her small family by opening a diner - never mind that cooking is not her greatest talent. The men in Broken Wheel, Texas, are so desperate for home cooking that they seem willing to overlook dried-out beef and blackened biscuits. Glynna can't help but notice that danger follows Dare wherever he goes. There's the avalanche. And then the fire. But things really get out of hand when someone plunges a knife from Glynna's diner into Dare's back.

Are Flint's cronies still plotting revenge? Is Glynna's son engaged in a misguided attempt to protect his mother? Is a shadowy outsider still enraged over past injustices? And can Dare survive long enough to convince Glynna to take another chance on love?

Good follow up book to a series set in a part of Texas few want to call home.

I hope to hear about Lana’s redemption in the next book. She sounded as though there was still some hope for her. This book is a good continuation of the first book in this series, barely allowing for any time to have passed since the first. I expect Tina will be a bit of an annoying handful in the book to follow since she’s started as the strong judgmental type in book two. I’m sure the she too will be redeemed in the end. I hope Jonas too can find love in the end. Glad to see things working out for the fierce and kind band of brothers. Good, entertaining story read by a really good narrator.

Christian Historical Romance

The chaotic avalanche is only the beginning of this wild story! From murderous threats, a crazy woman grieving, and a romance building, there's a lot going on in this srory! My favorite scene though was Tina's entrance into town!
There are lots of laughing out loud moments in this book, as well as great loss from the epidemic. Enough to make this "not a doctor", doctor, question his profession.

Good book

I enjoyed this book, but I didn't enjoy how horrid Glynna's life had been. Dare was a good character, but not my favorite. It was a little unerving how many times Dare was close to death. The murder attempts where made light though, by humor. It's a good middle book for this series, but compared to the others it honestly isn't extra ordinary. I definitely encourage you to read the others in this series however. They are far superior.

Love this series!

Glad I didn't heed the negative review. Thoroughly enjoy these very real, believable, funny characters and the lighthearted way they go through hard times. Also, Barbara McCulloh is brilliant and perfect for narrating this series!

Another great book by Connealy!

This a great series! I love the author and the narrator is phenomenal. The only problem is that the author calls the characters by different names (sometimes last, sometimes first, sometimes a nickname) and this can be confusing when listening to a book. But the mixture of romance, mystery and inspiration is delightful! Sorry when it ended.

Great Book

I love Mary Connealy’s books. This story was no exception. I love how she introduced each character and ties in the previous book’s plot also. The narrator is one of my favorites. She does an excellent job with each character. She has narrated most of Barbaras books. I have enjoyed all of them. I saw some very nasty reviews regarding Barbara. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions however cruel hurtful comments about the narrator are not helpful.
