Great Guide for New Founders Tackling Negotiations

I’m a first-time founder, and this book has been a lifesaver in handling negotiations I’d generally feel unprepared for. A useful tool for life in general

This audiobook is a wonderful guide for everyone whether in sales, becoming an entrepreneur, or daily life. You don't realize most of the time that negotiations are part of your daily life because we do it so often, but even in a committed relationship you are always negotiating. I love that the author talks about not always having to "win" at the negotiating table but creating a win-win situation for both parties. This is what negotiation is all about, especially if you have an ongoing relationship with the other business party or just in life. A key takeaway for me was the power of silence. It can do wonders to defuse tense situations or help in your negotiating strategy.

Finding my voice

I am not big on talking to people, and therefore I do not do a good job with negotiations both in my personal and professional life. I want to have better skills and improve my self-esteem, and I was hoping this book will help with all of that. I can say it is helping. I know that all the work on improvment is by me, but this book does an amazing job with the skills and recommendations.

Great overview of negotiation strategies

I appreciated how the author covered an array of different negotiation scenarios throughout the book - Contracts, Investors, Sales, Vendors, and Hiring. A key takeaway is one negotiation style does not fit most. Good negotiators must be great observers, have strong communication skills, and be able to adapt rapidly to specific negotiation scenarios. The narration was clear and easy to follow. I would recommend this book to people new to corporate environments, and particularly as a resource to women in business environments to increase awareness of negotiation requirements and strategies.

Inside the mind of a boss entrepreneur

So this is a cool perspective on the niche of interpersonal communication, and to be more specific, the art of negotiation and the reason it’s so unique is because this book has been written by (in the author’s words) an “8 figure serial online entrepreneur”. And it becomes apparent through even the first introduction that Michael Wu not only knows what he’s talking about when it comes to interpersonal communication, but he has mastered it and has all the tips and tricks to share with you, such as conquering the ever-dreadful self-doubt, leaning your weight on leverage (with super cool strategies I not had not previously come by), providing value for others in order to receive value back, and a ton more. It’s great to really get inside the mind of such a successful entrepreneur: You don’t get to that level without figuring out a thing or two in regards to human communication and negotiation. Helpful, very, very helpful.
