Publisher's summary

An action-packed urban fantasy adventure set on the islands of Hawaii!

My name is Marcus Aries. In addition to running my martial arts school, I serve as the guardian of the Hawaiian Islands. Basically, I’m the middleman between everyday mortals and the world of the supernatural.

A world no one else believes is real. One filled with darkness, danger, and creatures who would happily use my guts for fish bait if given the chance.

It’s my job to ensure peace, balance, and, when warranted, justice.

My latest case has me investigating the disappearance of a young boy, a child not much older than my own. When the evidence suggests something from the supernatural world is involved, it falls to me to learn the truth. I’ll need to utilize all my contacts to find him, and I'd better do it fast, because someone wants me dead, and the deeper I tread, the murkier the water gets.

First Wave is a brand new urban fantasy series filled with supernatural goodness and high-flying martial arts action. Get it now before the price changes!

What Readers Are Saying:

Action-packed, supernatural thriller!I am a big fan of authors of any genre that produces exciting, well-crafted characters that I can feel like I know and like. (Even if I like them to be bad.) This book has that all over it. Real people in out-of-this-world circumstances, grounded in genuine and compelling personalities. And SO much punching of really bad guys. :) -- G Pettway

"A fast-paced adventure filled with supernatural baddies and high-flying martial arts action. Reads like a cross between Magnum PI and Iron Fist!" -- Reviewer.

A fantastic way to kick off a new series! I’m a big fan of modern urban fantasy when the tropes of that genre are combined with well-developed characters and/or a unique setting. And that is definitely the case here. In the first installment of his Marcus Aries series, Justin Herzog gives us a relatable protagonist in Marcus Aries, a devoted family man and martial arts instructor who also just happens to Hawaii’s guardian against evil. Spirits, curses, and monsters galore all figure into a fast-paced debut that has me itching to read more of Marcus’ exploits. Plus, hey, martial arts throwdowns with enemies both mortal and supernatural! -- J. Buckley

Book one in thrilling urban fantasy series set in Hawaii. A fun, thrilling mystery set in Hawaii and favored with local and Eastern legends. The hero, Marcus, is part detective, part martial artist, and part supernatural guide. The target audience seems to be young teen, but the mystery and action will appeal to readers of all ages. -- B. Huestis

Oahu murder mystery that could be a tourist guide! Loved the prose! This is not your typical Kindle title. It's well written with very few, as in two, typos. I used to work for an airline and flew to Oahu every month. This could really be a tourist guide, too! Later, I did a thesis on Hawaiian religion. While the supernatural beings were not overt in my research, the gods of nature were definitely strong and omnipresent entities with modern Hawaiians. Loved the story. Loved Marcus and his family. I devoured the book in one day! -- Rusty
