About this listen
In Fitness Is F*cked, author and retired fitness professional Chas Gonnello blows the whistle on the fitness industry. Fitness, which includes the wellness, nutrition, health, performance, and supplement industries, is rife with quacks selling snake-oil “solutions” that prioritize their bottom line, not your well-being. This cutting book reveals the fitness industry’s deficiencies and how to avoid them.
From this starting point, Fitness Is F*cked, takes you on a journey that explores a host of popular fitness methodologies, from bodybuilding to kettlebell training, highlighting their benefits while also examining their limitations. Furthermore, this book discusses the perpetual sexism rife in fitness, how social media has impacted the industry, and persuasively argues for more regulations that will prevent schemers from profiting off of their false claims.
Rather than yet another exercise manual, Fitness Is F*cked explores fitness through a philosophical prism, referencing thinkers such as Nietzsche, Camus, and Baudrillard. This book is a valuable guide that uncovers what it actually takes, mentally as well as physically, to truly succeed in your fitness pursuits.

Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

No. Is it a fitness nutrition book full of dubious diet and exercise “hacks” and “shortcuts” for melting belly fat faster than a roided hornet? Absolutely not.

Honest and upfront
Learn about the fitness industry and all the hype and profiteering of the last few decades. From this audiobook, you're going to learn about the extremities of an extreme industry....the corruption and BS and the distinctions of what is genuine and what is just trying to manipulate you. It's well narrated and very listenable, but maybe there could be more focus on what is good and what is the right nutrition and health plan. Still....really well done.

The raw truth about the fitness industry
As someone who has been involved in the fitness industry for 7 years, I was very intrigued by the title of this book. Chas Gonnello shines a light on the ins and outs of the fitness industry as a whole, revealing all the truths—for better or worse. I was quite surprised how much I learned about other disciplines of fitness and their corresponding strengths and weaknesses.
I was expecting this book to be hard to listen to, but honestly, Chas does a good job of highlighting the pros and cons of industry practices and disciplines, along with the aimed goal of each. Yes it is very raw and may be polarizing to some, but I feel like he takes a very objective viewpoint and gives every aspect of fitness a fair assessment.
Although this is not a traditional diet and workout book, the reader will still learn a ton of knowledge that will help them with their fitness journey. It really opened my eyes and gave me a new perspective, would recommend!

Refreshing Take on the Fitness Industry
This is a refreshing eye-opener on the fitness and nutrition industry. Instead of coming across as a salesman trying to get you to believe that their product will save your life or guarantee that you shed 50 pounds, this insightful guide is brutally honest and engaging. No gimmicks, just hard facts presented with wisdom gained from hard-earned experience in the industry. For anyone who loves nutrition and health books, “Fitness is F’ed” is a must on your bookshelf.

A worthwhile listen
Chas leans on years of experience and research to disprove the snake oil salesmen of the fitness industry. Instead of focusing purely on the negative side of this, he offers ways that you can forge your own fitness journey with realistic expectations for long term goals. Going into the book I thought that it may be full of industry jargon and not for the uninitiated, but I was pleasantly surprised how it was clear in its message and enjoyable for the layman.

Hard to hear, but worth listening
My interest was piqued by the topic of this book. At some point into listening, I realized how much of the cool aid I had swallowed. Some things I had embraced to be true were challenged. It helped that the criticisms were backed by research so that they were easier to accept. I am hoping to make some changes in how I do my fitness and diet thanks to this book. Don't pick it up if you are not ready to keep an open mind and have your myths debunked, but if you do, be ready to have your life changed.

Incredible Insight and Information
As someone who has struggled with fitness and how to process information about fitness/supplements/workouts this book helped open my eyes on what is actually happening in the industry. the first half of the book shows a lot of the cons within the fitness industry itself. it is very obvious that the author cares and is extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend this banger of a book for anyone interested in fitness, whether you be just introducing yourself to fitness or a "vet" of fitness
