Publisher's summary

Masen Crisfield fell in love with Booth Jones when she was 16 years old. Booth was the love of her life. The rock she needed to get her through the day. Then, she rips his heart out while he’s deployed, leaving him wondering just what he’d done to warrant something so severe as a breakup that neither of them wanted.

Stubbornness is their middle name, and 10 long years pass before either one of them try to breach the gap.

Circumstances force Booth to come home, and within an hour of him being back in his home town, there she is. Right back in the forefront of his mind where he knows she shouldn’t be.

The day he starts his first civilian job at Kilgore Fire Department, his worst fear of seeing Masen is realized. And not only does he see her, but he sees her with another man. A fellow firefighter that he has to trust with his life.

It soon becomes apparent that they are both still just as much in love with each other now as they were the moment they met. But there’s a problem. Booth’s married, and Masen’s in a committed relationship.

They fight the pull with everything they have, but they’re both about to learn the true meaning of flash point as their lives crash together, their love consuming everything in it’s path.

Author's note: There is absolutely no cheating in this book.

Loved their story! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Emma Wilder and Jason Clarke are spot on with their performance. I love stepping back to listen to the stories of the men and women in Kilgore, TX.

This story has so much love, energy and suspense.

5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ across the board!

Booth and Masen

An endearing and beautiful second chance romance. Booth and Masen go through a lot filled with misunderstandings, lack of communication. and just being too immature for the feelings they had when they were younger. The older versions of these two- takes them on a heartfelt journey to unconditional love. I adored this story.
Jason Clarke is always AMAZING; add Emma Wilder that equals= perfection!

Fish point

Masen and Booth started pulling at your heart strings from the first chapter. Deployment, Death and words said in anger keep them apart for 10 years. Marriage and a mailbox threaten to come between them again. They began dating when Masen was 16 and Booth was in his early 20s, he joined the marines and was on deployment when she needed him most. However, it’s clear to see that despite everything getting in their way, they truly are in love and belong together but they are both extremely stubborn. Booth is strong and smart with an introverted type personality. Masen is beautiful and outgoing but clearly trying to heal her broken heart. I completely enjoyed watching the push pull between the two of them.

Holy Plot Holes Batman

So how DID the guy get her out of the hospital when she was unconscious and supposedly had two professional armed guards? How did no one in the hospital notice she was missing for what seemed to be hours? Why did Masen get so angry about the SWAT thing that she pitched a fit, then madder still when he didn’t call her, and suddenly his offenses were never mentioned again cause she hit a deer? Why was her phone randomly cutting off (plot device much?) How come her parents never filed a police report about the mailbox or got a camera themselves? Why didn’t Masen get a freaking security system when she lived alone across from a creeper? Why did no one report the numerous incompetencies and violations at the hospital the night she was gored? Why does it seem like there are no cops or paramedics in this town, only firefighters that are apparently cross trained as SWAT agents (oh and no fires to actually put out)? Why in the fresh hell is the ex naked in his bed with lingerie all over his bathroom the night before her wedding? And where is her kid? Why did the burn unit let Aaron discharge himself and leave in a cab when he’d been confined to bed days before? Why does the firehouse apparently have private bedrooms for the team members? This isn’t even all of it, I’m just tired of typing.

The story was predictable but ok. The best thing about it was the narrators.

Very Disappointing

I have every one of her books and can honestly say that I would almost believe this is a different author. Where is the funny banter? The characters seem to lack chemistry. Although, I will be honest and say that it could be because of the HORRID narrators. Where did they come from and why stray from Mason Lloyd and Kendall Taylor. They are what make her books come to life. A bad narrator can tank a book. I think these two did a good job at tanking this book. I'm sad to say that I would not recommend this book to waste a credit. It just didn't read as a LLV story.
