About this listen

Time to head back to the tropics for more action adventure and…murder.

MURDER, ARSON, BIG SUGAR, AND GUACAMOLE TOXIN…

In the steamy heart of Sugarland, Florida, PI Will Harper plunges into a new mystery that will pull him into its sinister grip. When a deadly toxin blankets Lake Okeechobee like guacamole, Harper's investigation becomes personal as a cane field fire claims an environmentalist's life. In this hard-boiled mystery, David Crosby weaves a tale thick with local lore, pitting Harper against the heirs of a sugar dynasty armed with arson. As he unearths the dirty secrets tying politicians to the sugar industry, Harper's race against time is a gripping odyssey through the humid tension of Sugarland. For fans of John D. MacDonald, Randy Wayne White, and Wayne Stinnett, Harper is the detective who lives on the edge, ready to expose the truth buried beneath the cane fields.

Good storyline although the writing was a bit juvenile.

Virtual voice, AI, whatever you call it is a horrible narration method. Too robotic, no feeling, no inflection. I wouldn’t have finished the book at all except that it was a book club choice and I was the discussion leader. I’ll not listen to another virtual narrated book again. Very disappointed
