About this listen

Pulling off an impossible crime is the only way he can stay alive.

Stealing a Faberge egg. Surviving a double cross. And pulling off the most incredible robbery ever, for the world’s most demanding - and dangerous - collector.

This will be the challenge of thief extraordinaire Riley Wolfe’s life.

Held prisoner by a top-dog international arms dealer, and a top-notch art collector, Riley has to steal an artwork. Small problem - it’s a fresco, “The Liberation of St. Peter”. Slightly larger problem - it’s in the Vatican.

And, it's a literal wall.

Riley has no choice: agree or die. But when his captor turns him loose, he finds even more dangerous criminals waiting to ensnare him, threatening his life and the life of the woman he loves. The threat is clear. Riley knows they both have only one way out.

With wicked dialogue, tons of explosive twists, and cinema-worthy scenes, Jeff Lindsay’s Fool Me Twice is a wildly entertaining caper starring an antihero you’ll root for, Riley Wolfe.

A Tongue in Cheek Adventure

This story includes tongue-in-cheek humor, which I enjoyed once I realized it was true to the main character. I was always guessing at what the final result would be.

Too much nonsense.

This is a good story ruined by way too many words that add nothing to it. Some humor is good in adventure but the author carries it to the ridiculous. I’m fine with colorful language but too much of it sounds like kids who just discovered the f word. An exciting idea executed poorly by the author. Good narration though.

much better

much better performance with a pro reading. Lindseys books are great, but himself reading ruined the experience. more enjoyable this time. I did guess the ending though. Too much Dexter experience I suppose.

“Hero?”

It was difficult to admire the “protagonist” who was almost as evil as his nemesis. The plot’s twist were imaginative and entertaining, but the constant use of the “f” word was distracting as well as annoying. I am not a prude, but one would hope that intelligent characters would have a more extensive vocabulary.

This book is so much fun!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Fool Me Twice by author Jeff Lindsay. This is a follow up to Lindsay’s book Just Watch Me. Each can be listened to as a stand alone but I would suggest listening to the books in order. I think you would get a better feel for the characters because there is some background information given in book one.
Lindsay likes to create bad guy characters that you love to root for. Think of his other creation... Dexter. This character (Riley Wolfe) is a thief who can steal anything and up until his latest job, which has been forced on him, no job has bested him. However his new job includes stealing an entire wall right out of the Vatican. Now you would think this couldn’t be done. Then you’re in for a treat. Get this book and have fun listening!.................... Braden Wright does an awesome job narrating. ..................
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. ............... If you found this review helpful please indicate so. ................ Thank You.

*NOT at ALL similar to the first book in the series*

Riley Wolfe & Monique are completely out of character in every way. The disjointed, complicated series of events and random characters were not enjoyable. It's almost as if this audiobook is a throwback of a story the author wrote in junior high about other characters and they just inserted the names Riley & Monique and called it book 2.

The narrator made the story worse. I could barely get through a few minutes before I was trying to figure out how to get a refund. I couldn't figure it out so I totured myself and listened to the story.

Just don't.

On second thought, if you approach this book like it is an independent middle school novel you probably won't be disappointed.

Trite

Terrible writing, every cliche known to man, many more than once. Overstated prose in every sentence. It has the emotional exaggerations of a pre teen girl.

Nonsense

There are echoes here of what made the Dexter series so good, but this book just feels silly and poorly thought out. It’s almost a children’s book. Narrator did his best.
