About this listen

David Cameron was elected Conservative leader in 2005, promising to modernize the party following its three successive electoral defeats. He became Prime Minister in 2010, forming Britain’s first coalition government in 70 years, at a moment of economic crisis, and went on to win the first outright Conservative majority for 23 years at the 2015 general election.

In For the Record, he will explain how the governments he led transformed the UK economy while implementing a modern, compassionate agenda that included reforming education and welfare, legalizing gay marriage, honoring the UK’s commitment to overseas aid and spearheading environmental policies. He will shed light on the seminal world events of his premiership - the Arab Spring; the rise of ISIS; the invasion of Ukraine; the conflicts in Libya, Iraq and Syria - as well as events at home, from the Olympic Games in 2012 to the Scottish referendum. He will provide, for the first time, his perspective on the EU referendum and his views on the future of Britain’s place in the world following Brexit.

Revealing the battles and achievements of his life and career in intimate and frank detail, For the Record will be an important assessment of the significant political events of the last decade, the nature of power and the role of leadership at a time of profound global change.

Interesting and thoughtful book

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was interesting getting to know much better the decisions that have now become famous. As someone who is not in the UK, the book was easy to understand and Cameron added some explanations for us foreigners. I did like Cameron a lot more after listening to this book and appreciate the insight into a very eventful several years of UK history.

Very interesting

I wasn’t a huge fan of David Cameron but I’m thankful for his dedication and loyalty to the four greatest countries in the world.

The part that touched and inspired me the most is when he spoke about Ivan, I heard and felt his pain and admired his and Sams
strength and courage. He is a good man!

A heartfelt account by David Cameron

David Cameron was a consequential prime minister that will forever be remembered for triggering Brexit and so people will see his premiership under those lenses, but he comes across as a true patriot, compassionate leader that achieved more for Britain than people will remember.

The book itself is long but well written, engaging and in many places very candid. The reading is also emotional and sometimes really touching.

Well done to Mr. Cameron for sharing his thoughts and I learned a lot from his story, both good and bad.

A man

Cameron comes across as a mans man. Once you put his view on context of what was happening at the time you realize that he tried to do what he could with what he had.

Well said sir

Good Account of entire political career lived.

Really gave an honest and sincere account of his whole political career both professional and casual.
So revealing for personality beyond politics and Answers any questions and doubts during glory days of
leadership. Absolutely inspiring that much can be done to break glass ceilings and defy odds to leave a mark and positive impact while being sincerely remorseful of any wrongdoings.

Very insightful.

Enjoyed this book very much. Cameron does a great job of explaining his thoughts behind many of the things he did right and wring during his long career in Politics. I have a new respect for why he called for the referendum along with many other things. He also does a great job of narrating the book.
Highly recommend it.

Essential Reading

I thoroughly enjoyed this nuanced account of a very complex and fascinating period of history. I was very impressed with Cameron’s emotional honesty and accessibility as a writer. The Poms don’t deserve such a capable and committed leader - they deserve Boris. 😂

Wish i did not read it first

This book needs to be read with a basic understanding of the UK parliamentary system and the prople involved. Before reading this one I would suggest reading unleashing demons the inside story of Brexit. This one than all out war the full story of how Brexit sank Britian's politicaal class.. . What makes this book hard to read at times is the fact that it is written on an issue by issue basis insead of a chronological one. The narration is well done. If you like modern UK history I think you will enjoy it
