About this listen

First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.

But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.

All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional. Turns out, that’s easier said than done.

Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock-hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.

I tell myself it’s just this once.

Okay, twice.

All right, every night.

But it’s got to end–he’s 14 years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then, there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep, and mine are getting too big to hide.

Walking away is never simple, but when I do, I can’t look back.

Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

OH MY SWEET DADDY ASHER!

Oh.My.God. What did Corrine Michaels put in this book? I loved it SO DANG MUCH!

Zachary Webber (honest unpopular opinion: he wasn't my favorite male narrator at the start 🙈) absolutely KILLED it as Asher. I loved his pacing, his inflection, the tenderness that went into his voice when he was talking/signing with his daughter. WOW!!

Desiree Ketchum was also just amazing! She had the perfect balance of snark, but also was able to sound so vulnerable. I loved that the character of Phoebe didn't have her whole life together. She was trying to figure things out, so she made mistakes.

Honestly, Im not a huge 5🌟 giver. I have to connect with the characters, enjoyed the banter, feel the build up of tension and need. THEN I can get into all my feelings. I loved how much Asher loved his girls and how protective he became.
Plus he SAID all those feelings, in WORDS, he didn't run from or try to push them away. Once he was in, he was in and I LOVED that.

This is the kind of Audiobook that I finished and immediately wanted to start at the beginning at.

I am now dying for the next book in the series!

Oh my heart! Swoon!

Asher Whitlock has been living a pretty uneventful life, considering. You see, he had a hookup with his friend Sara ten years ago and from that they got the adorable Olivia he loves more than anything and he co—parents with her. So, when Sara, a documentary filmmaker has to leave for a few months for a shoot, he’s elated that he’ll have his kid full time while the mom is away. Well, small hitch in the plans. He needs a nanny. He may be a small town cop, but he’s also SWAT team leader, so it’s not like he has extra time on his hands. He does have off days, but he’ll need help. Sara has already did all the checking and they already have a nanny coming who can communicate using ASL with Olivia, who’s hearing impaired.
As they usually do, things go south when the nanny can’t take the job and Asher’s boss proposes that he hires his daughter. Oh heck, no! The last time Phoebe babysat for Olivia, Olivia gave herself a “peculiar” haircut and Phoebe’s flaky to say the least. But he’s in a pickle and what is he going to say to his boss?

Phobe’s also not having the best time in her life. She’s coming home before getting her degree in Audiology and her dad is still trying to figure out why she’s decided to transfer schools. So, when her dad kinda forces her to take the job, she really can’t say no.

When Asher and Phoebe meet again, he has to reconcile with the fact that she is now a grad student, who’s passionate about audiology and someone who connects with his daughter immediately. That was the easy part. The hard one? She’s his boss’s daughter, 14 years younger and hotter than any nanny should be. As for Phoebe, she’s in love with Olivia… and why does Asher have to be so hot and swoony???

Ok, there are book boyfriends… We all have them. I want Asher to be my book husband! OMG, the swoon! I love everything about this book: how protective of Olivia Phoebe is, how respectful of Phoebe’s goals in life Asher is, how healthy his relationship with Sara is, how perfect they are for each other in every sense…
You expect Corinne Michaels to tug at your heartstrings, but I was in all the feels from page 1 in this book! LOVED IT! 6 stars
(Read the bonus epilogue!!!!!! Oh the extra swoon!)
I can’t wait for the audiobook… Zachary Webber and Desirée Ketchum. Sweet Lawd!

Edited for audiobook review: Well, I have by now read and listened to this book…

Let me tell you, it was a 6-star read and I think the audiobook made it even better! Hmm, am I establishing a 7-star system now?!

Desiree Ketchum is perfection as the fun, sassy Phoebe and who doesn’t love Zachary Webber bringing all his swoony game?

Amazing!

(Contains no spoilers)
I think this might be my favorite Corrine book yet! Asher is amazing, and you can really see Phoebe grow over the story.
tbh I think the time frame was a little off during some parts though. like, I don't think the weeks/months that pass added up correctly, but im bad at math so I may be wrong! that's the only thing I really noticed that was "off" about this book.
The spice was great, the plot twist was GLORIOUS, and I think I picked up on some character hints that will be back in the next books. I can't wait!
Zachary Webber was perfect, as usual. The female narrator wasn't my favorite at first but she grew on me by the end. I don't think I've heard her before so it was just a new voice to get used to!

My heart just exploded

This story was so much more than what I expected. It has alot of heart, laughs, and spicy romance (which is why I love Corrine Michael's books). I loved how both of them kind of grew throughout the story. Olivia is also heart melting. You can not go wrong with this book.

What a great read.

This is definitely a corinne michael's reaid. It has lots of feels With emotion. It has such adorable characters in it with the little girl. Kind of a grumpy dad but sexy dad. The female character is a strong character but still has very many troubles. This is an age gap romance but nothing forbidden really not to me anyway. Some people might think it's forbidden. It was a great story I enjoyed it. I adore the narrators. Zachary and his little kid voices always get to me he's very good at them. Desiree did an amazing job at the female voice. I was so into the story with her she sounded exactly like a college graduate. Would sound at least I guess in my head I don't know. I was so into the story these two just brought it so much to life it was great.

sounded tinny

Everything was good except audio. sounded as if readers were in a metal tube. I found this very distracting.

One of my favorite tropes!!

I absolutely love nanny romances and add in that Asher is a small town police officer 😍😍😍

I absolutely loved the representation of the Deaf community. I was worried how that would come across on audio but I think they did it wonderfully.

I wasn’t looking for another family series to love but I have definitely found one. I wonder who book 2 is about? ❤️
