About this listen

Chiquis Rivera is a singer and the daughter of the late music superstar Jenni Rivera. In Forgiveness, her memoir, Chiquis bravely reveals the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father during her childhood and the difficulties she's faced in her personal life as a result. Despite growing up marked by the wounds of abuse, she eventually conquered her fear of love and intimacy.

This book also recounts what caused the distance between her and her mother toward the end of Jenni's life. In Forgiveness, Chiquis brings to light truths that she wishes she had been able to reveal to Jenni.

Two years after her mother's death, Chiquis answers the most difficult questions: Was she able to make peace with Jenni? And in this story of triumph and tragedy, who is most in need of forgiveness?

This book is well written and an great read, especially for fans of Jenny and Chiquis Rivera. It’s however incredibly insulting that they have a non-Latinx voiceover, who puts on a terrible “Hispanic” accent whenever reading direct quotes despite the fact that those people speak perfect English. How can the person narrating a nonfiction book not verify something like that before bastardizing the protagonist’s voice and the voice of her iconic mother?

Incredible story, insulting audio

I enjoyed this book because of her honesty. I felt like there was always something missing in her family story. this book sheds alot of light on her and her mother's history

I wish Chiquis would’ve narrated this. I love her voice. Nonetheless I loved hearing her story.

The bluntness.

This book was so good but my only complaint is that it was not read by Chiquis or someone who could speak in Spanish. I had a really hard time listening through this because of how it was read. The forced accents and the wrong pronunciation of Latin words almost felt insulting.

I loved the book, the bio,the story it was beautiful! However I didn't like the audio, I feel Chiquis should have read it or someone who is Hispanic it would have given it genuine emotion!

Once I started, I didn't want to put it down. A fast-paced account of Chiquis life. She went through so much and came out strong. But whoever selected the narrator is clearly out of touch and hadn't read the book. Cringe - worthy accents and no understanding of Spanish.

Great story, Terrible Narration
