About this listen
WINNER OF THE HUGO AWARD FOR BEST ALL-TIME SERIES
The Foundation series is Isaac Asimov’s iconic masterpiece. Unfolding against the backdrop of a crumbling Galactic Empire, the story of Hari Seldon’s two Foundations is a lasting testament to an extraordinary imagination, one that shaped science fiction as we know it today.
The Galactic Empire has prospered for twelve thousand years. Nobody suspects that the heart of the thriving Empire is rotten, until psychohistorian Hari Seldon uses his new science to foresee its terrible fate.
Exiled to the desolate planet Terminus, Seldon establishes a colony of the greatest minds in the Empire, a Foundation which holds the key to changing the fate of the galaxy.
However, the death throes of the Empire breed hostile new enemies, and the young Foundation’s fate will be threatened first.

Story
The Eternals, the ruling class of the Future, had the power of life and death not only over every human being but over the very centuries into which they were born. Past, Present, and Future could be created or destroyed at will. You had to be special to become an Eternal. Andrew Harlan was special. Until he committed the one unforgivable sin - falling in love. Eternals weren’t supposed to have feelings. But Andrew could not deny the sensations that were struggling within him. He knew he could not keep this secret forever. And so he began to plan his escape.

At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. Beautifully narrated by Alessandro Juliani ( Battlestar Galactica), Lem’s provocative novel comes alive for a new generation.

Story
His name was Biron Farrill and he was a student at the University of Earth. A native of one of the helpless Nebular Kingdoms, he saw his home world conquered and controlled by the planet Tyrann - a ruthless, barbaric Empire that was building a dynasty of cruelty and domination among the stars. Farrill’s own father had been executed for trying to resist the Tyrann dictatorship and now someone was trying to kill Biron. But why? His only hope for survival lay in fleeing Earth and joining the rebellion that was rumored to be forming somewhere in the Kingdoms.

Story

Classic!
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
From a zeitgeist / social relevance point of view I found it disappointing since it seems naively optimistic about science, oversimplifying the characters in a strictly patriarchal way that doesn’t seem to allow for even of the fraction of societal change we’ve seen in the 70 years since it was written, let alone centuries.
Women scarcely feature in this story and when they do they are portrayed in the most infantile and stereotypic ways imaginable.
The narration is also disappointing, with the main characters having rather annoying intonations.
Seminal work but didn’t age all that well
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
The narrator of this book is superb!
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
Boring
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
The reader makes the characters’ voices quite distinct, which is really beneficial for a story with long dialogues.
Awesome

Great book, performance a little hard to follow
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
Just to stress the point that the actual voice acting wasn't bad.
Skipped content
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
The story is well thought out, with a grand scale. He leaves us questioning the rationale of certain events, only to reveal it at the perfect time. I was never bored during the book.
Classic but very fresh.
