About this listen
The second installment in the steamy Shattered Promises series, by New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Jessica Sorensen
Gemma thought she had said her goodbyes and had felt every possible emotion she could before her soul was detached again. Deep down inside, she hoped she'd never wake up from it because, in her eyes, life without emotion and memories isn't worth living.
But she does wake up and discovers she can still feel and remember everything she experienced over the last few months. Alex is also telling her that everything's okay, that he didn't betray her, and that what she thought happened really didn't.
Gemma isn't sure if she can trust Alex, so she tries to keep her distance from him, even though the electric connection and her desire make it nearly impossible. The only person she can trust is Laylen, but even that becomes complicated when the lines of their friendship begin to blur.
While Gemma struggles with her emotions and relationships, she searches for her mother, entering a dangerous world of secrets, seduction, and evil. The further she digs into her mother's secrets and past, the more she wonders what waits for her at the end of her search and if maybe some things are better left in the dark.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

enjoyable but strays
I love the story, even the depth on many characters.
The biggest issue were the partial tangents that altered the feeling and flow of the story unfolding. It caused a disconnection of my interest in continuing forward... made listening to finish the book more of a chore.

there are more books
Fallen Star and Shattered Promises.
1st Audibles doesn’t show the next book to the series, but there are 5 books. The 2nd is on Audibles “Fractured Soul” however the rest are not on here.
There is however a 2nd opinion. The Fallen Stars Series by the same author.
There are slight differences, but the story is mostly the same in the first book. Different things do NOT happen in Shattered Promises that did happen in the original: Fallen Star. Sorensen has said that the following books should follow a different story line in the Shattered Promises series. I am not sure because I can’t finish without an audio book.
Shattered Promises is for mature adult & has a 17+ warning.
Fallen Star is for youth adults.
In other words all of the hot steamy sex that makes Shattered Promises so good is not in the PG-13 version “Fallen Stars”
Hopefully Audibles will add the remaining Shattered Promises audio books, but if you can do without the good sex and you have to hear what happens next you can always pick up with book 3 of the Fallen Stars series
I really enjoyed the 2 audio books from the Shattered Promises series especially the hot steamy sex, so I will hold off on Fallen Stars for now. Although I do not do well with cliff hangers for long.

Loved
Read the entire series and loved it. This is a series, so there will be cliff hangers. Worth the read and got all the books free from the local library on my library app, except one because I couldn’t wait for it to be available to listen.
Would have paid for all of them.

Very scary
I can’t believe the ending! She’s almost able to allow herself to fall in love and then the most terrifying and worst thing happens. I hope the author fixes this mess in the next book of the series.

Could not get past chapter 5
I can’t say much, because I didn’t get far. I will say that what I did hear was jagged, and mostly just soft porn. Apparently the main character has nothing but sex on her mind

WTF - So Angry that I wasted my time!
I am a really easy person to entertain... The 1st book was okay but you are left hanging... which is pretty normal in a
series... Then you listen to this book & you feel like you have been put in the dryer & get banged up pretty good trying to
stay onboard with where the story is taking you... But... Heads UP because this story... Is Not... taking... Us... Anywhere... I
totally wasted my time... Not to mention that I am now... in a Nasty mood... Don't invest your time... You will regret it...!
There needs to be at least 2 more books breaking down everything that was mushed together in the 1st 2 books...
& then give it a reasonalble... or at least realistic ending... Ugh!!!! Super Ughhh! Grrr double Grrr... umph... Just Sayin'
