About this listen

Detective Grace Elliott thought she had seen it all, but when an early morning call about a murdered woman hands her a new case, her world begins to unravel. As she dives deeper into the case, Grace is haunted by the discovery that the victim was once a mental health patient of her husband. Secrets long buried start to surface, not only from the victim's life but from Grace's own past, threatening to tear apart everything she holds dear.

Caught between her duty as a detective and the creeping suspicion that her husband knows more than he's saying, Grace races against time to uncover the truth. But as she navigates the twisted lies and dark motives, the lines between her personal and professional life blur, leaving her questioning who she can really trust.

In a city where darkness lingers around every corner, the past is never truly forgotten. And for Grace, some truths may be too dangerous to face.

I love a good thriller and this did not disappoint! The ending surprised me in the best way. This was my first book from this author and narrator, looking forward to more.

Great thriller and wonderful narration

This felt like an episode of NCIS only better. The way the POVs change is so perfect to keep you guessing and my suspicions and theories changed constantly throughout the story with every new piece of info. The narrator also just adds to the depths of mystery, suspense and emotion and I had such a hard time pausing this story because I was so eager to know what happened next. Would definitely recommend this to anyone enjoys thrillers, crime, mysteries, suspense!

Completely unpausible!

A character drama murder mystery. It's got a soap opera esque series of twists, romance subplots, and gradients of wrong doing. The text doesnt keep much enshadowed in mystery for too long and might tip it's hand a bit early in some ways but there are layers of plot that keep it interesting. Our story is told from the perspective of a lady cop haunted by an unsolved case in the past and another in present leading to some struggling with her sense of identity, a wounded heroine. The audiobook narrator is a confident seeming lady that fits the persona of the lead well. There were times I felt frustrated that the plot would focus on a romance subplot but it gave some emphasis to a relatable human neediness and vulnerability adjacent to the bloody murder. The book has a relatively small cast of main characters and does a lot within their little shared universe but it sometimes felt too constrained. The murder book microcosm both allowed the characters space to fill without a lot of tangents and filler but sometimes made them feel too related to one another, the broken-ness of nearly everyone here sometimes too intertwined. My favorite parts were the lead character's grief over Jill's unsolved case and my least favorite parts were the villain's sometimes unclear motives. Overall I enjoyed Fragments of Truth.
