I thought this was a really interesting and important book to read. Black history doesn't always get the attention it needs or deserves, so therefore Americans are not as informed as they should be. This booked helps to see a different perspective on Black history. It is written for young black girls, so it can relate and inspire them. There are reflections and questions after every chapter to help deepen the knowledge of the reader and push them to do more research and reflect even more. While the book is written for young Black girls, it holds a lot of valuable information for people of all ages and ethnicities. This book dives into more of America's history in a way that informs and inspires the reader. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I learned a lot about Juneteenth that I was not aware of. I didn't realize/know that Juneteenth has been around since slavery was abolished, and yet it still doesnt get the recognition it deserves.

Amazing book, well written, and very important for people to read. Extremely educational.

Since knowledge should never be kept beyond the reach of young girls, I appreciate how this book provides a rich variety of stories of women and girls who walked this path first. These words spoken intentionally to the young can help them see their value in our country’s history.

Happy for our young girls to have their own book!
