Certain words in the course of long use gather so many strange connotations that they almost cease to mean anything at all. Such a word is imagination. Fancy, thought, hallucination, suspicion: indeed, so wide is its use and so varied its meanings, the word imagination has no status nor fixed significance.

Neville Lancelot Goddard was born in Barbados in 1905. He came to the United States to study drama at the age of 17 and whilst touring with his dance company in England he developed an interest in metaphysics after a Scotsman he met lent him a series of books on the powers of the mind. On his return he gave up the entertainment industry to devote his full attention to the study of spiritual and mystical matters.

The unknown author of the Book of Luke (like all the others) wrote only of his own experiences. Turning to his disciplined mind in self-contemplation, he is Jesus turning to his disciples and saying: "Scripture must be fulfilled in me. All that is written about me must be fulfilled." Beginning with Moses and the prophets, and the psalms he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. There are three very firm statements made in scripture defining God. God is light. God is love, and God is spirit. John tells us here that God is light, a light in which there is no darkness. Now try to follow me closely. The final gift to man is God himself and God is a revealer. Man's knowledge of himself is based on his knowledge of the revealer. Scripture records what is said of the revealer. As he awakens in you, read scripture carefully and you will discover to what extent God has revealed himself to you.
