About this listen
From the dawn of man, the war between Demons and Angels has ravaged the land. Two thousand years of peace has lulled the people into a false sense of security. Malach is on a journey to find his place in the world and pick a side in the war that is quickly approaching, meeting unlikely allies along the way.

Great story and narration albeit with a few flaws

-The main character, Malach, is truly one of the best-written characters I have read in recent history; he feels very natural and very realistic in his responses to situations and dialogue. His companion, Skie, is also a treat every scene; their dynamic with each other is fun, humorous, but also impactful. Each character feels unique and a breath of life into different personalities - the aspirant Daziar, the headstrong Amara, even the sassy wolf, Skie; each character feels memorable.
-The author also takes into account details that many other writers overlook (count the arrows!) while he also avoids getting bogged down in the unnecessary. Every aspect of the story, from the hunting and gathering to the combat and techniques, are well researched and well implemented.
-The pacing of the book was very well done - a slower start to allow things to feel natural in their development and avoid being rushed, while there still some action and tension sprinkled in to scratch that itch.
-It's not all perfect, however. With the slower start comes the need for patience. However, it's not as slow of a burn as, say, Lord of the Rings, and at least the author tries to keep things interesting while the story builds. But give it a chance and you'll be rewarded. There are also a few mistakes here and there throughout the book, though very minor. What mistakes are present are few and far in-between; you can explain them away with your own logic easily and none of them break the story.
In conclusion: I would highly recommend this book. For a little-known author, this is a gem in the sand. I will definitely be picking up the next books when they're released on audio; and I might just grab the physical copies for my collection, too.
Loved it from start to finish!
