About this listen

In this behind-the-scenes look at sports broadcasting, Eli Gold tells how a kid from Brooklyn, New York, went from selling peanuts at Madison Square Garden to being one of the most recognizable voices in all of radio sports broadcasting.

From Peanuts to the Pressbox is an intimate walk down memory lane, reliving some of the greatest moments in University Of Alabama sports (football and basketball), NHL hockey, and NASCAR. Gold also shares stories from his early days with Yankees broadcasters Mel Allen and Red Barber and other broadcasting greats, such as Bob Costas, Tom Hammond, Verne Lundquist, Kevin Harlan, Ron Franklin, and Mike Tirico.

Amazing book. Eli's voice is my childhood and I could not wait to hear the book. it was different in that he did not go in order of in 66 I did this 67 I did this, instead he told of his jobs in groups and it perfect. Felt like we sitting in his living room and he was telling different stories. Eli Gold has always been a hero to me but learning his story I truly learned how amazing he is and he his an even better person than I thought and I thought highly of him before. As a kid if I heard his voice calling something other than Bama football I would stop and listen or watch whatever it was just because it was his voice. I will say if u expect this book to be mostly about Bama it is not till last 2 chapters. this is Eli's story and it is an amazing one.-- M.V Dothan, Al
