About this listen

Front & Homeland: The Invasion of the Soviet Union is the fourth installment of The Protocols series, a series which traces the rise of authoritarianism from the Industrial Revolution to the end of the Second World War. Front & Homeland is set in 1941 and chronicles the dramatic failure of Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. The story is largely revealed by the words of the Nazis' leader, Adolf Hitler, during private conversations recorded during this period. The story culminates on January 20, 1942, with the Nazis' decision to implement the Final Solution -- the murder of the remaining Jews in Europe. Like the books in The Protocols series, Front & Homeland is the story of people caught in events. It is composed of carefully selected excerpts taken from memoirs, diaries, conference notes, radio broadcasts, speeches, news articles, and other historical documents selected not only for their ability to illuminate the past, but for their relevance to the times in which we live.
