About this listen
Francisca Guinn learned to bake and make fruitcakes from her deceased mother, who had worked at the Collin Street Bakery. Fran had changed the recipe to suit her tastes, but she sold them during the holidays to make extra money. When she meets Trent Jones, she tries not to give him special attention because most Texans don't like her Mexican heritage on her mother's side. However, as he remains persistent, she begins to wonder if he might be different, but will his high-society parents accept her?

This is a wonderful story. I love all of the characters. Great moral story too. A Christian book that is not preachy.

The Perfect Love Story
My first book of 2024 was listening to Fruitcake by Fran and it was a wonderful story for the new year. Everyone loves Fran’s fruitcake. The original recipe was her mothers, but over the years she added her own touches. Fran, literally runs into Trent and they are both stunned. They meet again when she works a party at his parents house. His mother only treats her as a servant, as Fran is part Mexican, but her heritage doesn’t matter to him. Trent is so taken with Fran. There is trouble too, from Fran’s friend, Javier. He is jealous of Trent. Time will soon help with all these issues. A wonderful story for the new year.
I was given a copy of the book by the author, for an honest review.

Christian Historical Romance
This was a great audiobook! I loved the story of a poor mixed race woman who meets a rich white banker. Despite all the differences between them, their connection is too strong to resist. Unfortunately problems come up to break them apart!
The narration was excellent too!

Sweet Romance
This was a sweet romance with some twists and turns that challenge Trent and Fran. But with God's help the work through the troubles they face. I love the way the inspirational part of this author's books is so nicely woven into the story without being preachy. This was another great listen and I always enjoy this author.
The narration is good and makes it an easy listen.

Fantastic listen!
Fun! Fun! Fun! Janice Cole Hopkins pulls me into another Holiday Kitchen Book and ends with a recipe I may just have to try! Fran bakes to make extra money. Using recipes she has tweaked from her mother, she has gotten a good reputation for tasty treats. She bumps into Trent one day, and the chemistry is instantaneous. But he is a Texan, and surely has no interest for a woman that is half Mexican and lives on the wrong side of town. Right? Trent is quite the man, but has some obstacles he has to overcome. Parents can be the biggest of all obstacles, and will they use that to control Trent? I love this story. Relevant issues from back then that are still effect many today is brought to the forefront of this book. Faith and good character come through in spades with this story, from Casey the orphan to knowing that the heart wants what it wants. This is truly an inspirational story and a pleasure to listen to.
Jennifer Groberg gives a delightful portrayal of all the characters in this story. From male to female to child, she pulls out all the stops and creates a simpler time to fall into. I enjoy her narrations and this one is no exception. It was enjoyable to hear.
