About this listen

Sometimes hate can be beautiful. Gene Geter's Gay Demeaning Happy can rather more accurately be depicted as an emotional release from issues that simply just piss him off. Though the language of the majority of the poems is bitter, controversial and obscenity-laced, a further exploration of the poems is warranted. Most of the anger-venting, insult-barraging phrases are marked by satirical underpinnings. Although the self-marketing poems are not as meritorious, the remainder of the poems (and the book as a whole) are an explicit, lyrical and expressive explosion of politically-incorrect feelings and occurrences that we have witnessed or have felt at some point in time. This fact therefore makes the book a bold reminder that the dark and carnal feelings that make up human nature do exist. The realization that these feelings are present will only then facilitate change. - Cornell University undergraduates 2004 Poetry United States World Literature Witty
