About this listen

Efficiency is the key to effective (and enjoyable) genealogy research. Your success should not be measured by the number of hours you spend researching, but by the results of that research. If you are investing 10 hours a month or 10 hours a week, what do you have to show for that time investment? In Genealogy 101, Jedd K. Parkinson shares ten critical lessons supplemented by 94 tips on how to research your family's history efficiently and effectively, helping you to avoid the frustrations and confusion that often afflict beginning and experienced genealogy researchers alike. Mr. Parkinson also offers suggestions as to what to do with the output of your research. Mr. Parkinson has personally trained and assisted thousands of people with their genealogy research over the past decade. He has developed a unique and efficient approach to family history that includes simple yet powerful applications of technology and techniques from the tech industry that anybody can learn and apply. After receiving repeated requests from the people he's trained for a manual or book containing his lessons and tips, he decided to put them all into this handbook. As a professional in the technology industry since 1997, Mr. Parkinson has contributed to the launching and manufacturing of many of the game-changing technologies that have transformed genealogy research in recent years. He earned his Certification in Family History Research from Brigham Young University Idaho in 2016. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University and an MBA from Brigham Young University with additional post-graduate work done through Cornell University. An author of five books, Jedd K. Parkinson is a frequent speaker at family history meetings, training classes, firesides and other events organized by church or community groups.
