About this listen

Once upon a time, in the far back 1960s the idea of combining a coffee cafe and a bakery was not such a common idea…but in the small bustling town of Willowbrook, there lived a young and ambitious baker named Preston. Preston had a passion for creating delectable treats that made people's taste buds dance with delight. He also loved coffee in all sorts of blends and liked to experiment with new coffee drinks. He dreamt of opening his own bakery, where he could share his baked goods and coffee with the world.

In the nineteen sixty’s young people were becoming tuned in and turned on. Music festals like Woodstock opened the world to the youth quake of flower power, and rock music. Along with the British Invasion of the Beatles and Rolling Stones and the model Twiggy and Carnaby Street and Kings Road fashion! And the sexual revolution was happening, including even the idea of same sex couples! Young Preston was aware of all these changes through Life Magazine and watching TV. Even Willowbrook saw hints of things changing, the dream of change Preston had as he worked as Elston’s Barkery was of his own new kind of place, where the old and new could meet and eat…

Preston baked and thought and planed and sought out assorts of guidance in starting his business even in some unorthodox places…

One evening, as rumors spread through the town about a renowned medium named Madame Leclair and her extraordinary abilities, Preston's curiosity got the better of him. Eager to explore the unknown, he decided to attend one of Madame Leclair's seances.

Cute lil romance..

Ok, I bought this one on a whim, I liked the title and I rarely read historical romance (like omg, the 60's is old times now) but the cover was cute enough for me to try this.

So back in the old days of the 60's, Preston wanted to open a bakery that also was a coffee shop. He wanted it so badly that he went to a medium and connected with a 19th century French baker ghost who taught him how to make delicious sweets.

Preston meets a man Oliver, who he falls for and also has the hots for him

They get together not only in their personal life but the business as well and live happily ever after.

This is a very short audio so I can't get into details but this is a fade to black using baking puns to describe sexytimes.

The narration was good, I have not read any books with Guy Veryzer before but they did a wonderful job

Past and Present

This story had a calm and steady pace from start to finish. While it didn’t completely draw me in, it’s a short, easy listen that could work well as a light background story. The narrator did a great job, adding a nice touch to the experience. If you’re looking for something quick and gentle, this could be a good choice!
