About this listen

Enjoy this exciting 2 book series by mystery thriller author Michelle Files.

Madison's bedroom was eerily quiet when the kidnapper lifted her from her crib. The moon filtered through the curtain, illuminating the baby's face in a cold, blue light.

The next morning, Madison's parents awoke to an empty crib and police officers knocking at the door. Her disappearance sent shockwaves throughout the town.

Determined to find out what happened that night in her bedroom, Madison began digging deeper and uncovered a web of secrets and deception that threatened both her safety and sanity. With each piece of the puzzle she put together came more danger than before.

Who kidnapped Madison so many years ago? Who is stalking her now? Will Madison find out the truth before it's too late?

Read to the thrilling conclusion.

Girl, Twisted

Wow. First, whisper sync’s emotion is so incongruous with the story and the girl’s character that my brain had to work hard to reassemble a coherent tale.
Second, the twists and turns seem to be most important so that character integrity and motivation are compromised. Many unrealistic pieces occur.
Third and most disturbing to me: it’s a coming of age drama. Seems like Cinderella or a learn-to-do-right or be a good person type story but noooo!
Young Adult dramas certainly do get repetitive. If the character is male, he will do something dishonest and pay for it and learn his lesson, Honor and chivalry are primo.

This story goes another way. Our girl is free to sleep around and lie and not be responsible for consequences. She learns how to bully, how to enchant and manipulate boys, how to be a sexy sixteen and how to play the victim card.

Madison is very shallow and probably diagnosable as psychopathic, eg she recognises pain in others but doesn’t care for long, just doesn’t like if someone is mean to her when she ruins their life.

Literature has evolved this century. It’s now assumed that women matter and men may not. Women wield power in ways unavailable to men and without reciprocity. A book like this (a teenage girl repeatedly rewarded for her sins) would have been unacceptable in 1990 but now?

As far as chapter 12

As a parent it is hard to listen to Madison’s behavior. I have only gotten as far as chapter 12 and had to stop to read the other reviews which I probably should have done prior to listening. Now I’m a bit invested so I’ll see how much more I can stand to listen to.

Horrible AI reader. Zero emotion!

Several time line errors. Several unbelievable events. If this story had taken place before cellphones, it might be more believable.
