About this listen
Glass Wings
The Glass Wings Series Book One
Pain erupted from Hadley’s shoulders, blood, deep and blue streaked down her back. A metal chain groaned around her ankle, the only sound besides her screams in the dark.
Eighteen and alone in California, Hadley turns to selling the only thing she has left to make ends meet: herself. When strange things start happening, Hadley has nowhere to turn. She will soon learn that there are worse things than humans watching her from the shadows.
Hadley’s existence is an anomaly. She has inherited an ancient feud between immortals both good and evil. With it, powers she can’t yet control. Her path extends back centuries, tying her to five winged immortals: a gentle soul burdened with destructive abilities, twins whose connection to the moon ties them to fate, a woman whose commands shape destinies, and a boy who wanders the realm of unconsciousness.
She will soon learn what they’ve all known for ages: even divine beings aren’t immune to family drama. When the light and the dark prepare for war, only you can decide which side you fall on—and it might not be as clear as you think.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Demons 😈 & Angels 🪽
This story was so interesting & the change btw past & future. Loved how were able to know how each character feels & thinks. By far my fav character is I Ren (I believe that’s how you spell it) she is so chill & don’t accept any criticism. She puts herself first and then is always there for her bff. Thru everything that she & her bff go thru is so sad but love how this journey is coming together for now she’s trying to protect her bff’s bby.

Unique story & great world building
Really enjoyed this book even though it was a departure from the genre I typically read.
Story was very unique and the world created was immersive.

Narrator
Loved the way the narrator made each character have its own voice. So much easier to follow the story.

Something New and Fresh in the Dark Fantasy Genre
Where do I start? Wow! This story is not like any other I've read before! I've been getting somewhat bored of the typical plots that come with the majority of romantasy stories out there lately. This book was certainly a welcome change! It did take some time to wrap my head around the world being described because it is so different, but toward the middle it came together and I was immersed in the story and found it hard to turn off! I devoured this audiobook over the course of 2 days!
For constructive criticism, I only wish the introduction of the Kinnari made it more clear what they were exactly and how their magic system worked. This was the part that confused me so much in the beginning of the story. When the story would shift to today's time with Hadley, it was much easier to follow along. So for the first half of the book I spent half of the time kind of lost trying to piece the puzzle of the Kinnari together and wasn't able to really get into the story the way I would have liked. Once those pieces finally clicked into place, I was chomping at the bit to find out what happens next! And the ending…! Never did I see that coming! I can only imagine what awaits in the next book!
I imagine a reread/listen would be great now that I understand the world and characters better.
The narrator did a wonderful job as well. He made each character stand out so it was very easy to follow along.
If you're looking for something in the dark fantasy genre that's different from the current trends that includes unique characters, an uncommon magic system, and that's fast paced and keeps you hooked, give this a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
This story does contain dark elements so be sure and check those trigger warnings. There are some scenes that may be tough for some.

First audible book ever
This is the first book I have ever listened to instead of reading. The characters were brought to life through the different voices of the narrator. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I look forward to the author making more books and listening to more books by this narrator!

Pay attention
It took me a little while to put the story together. I’m going to listen to it again because I feel like I missed parts. This is one that you want to pay attention to. It’s a good story. I can’t wait for the second book!
