Good Read

I bought this book because I'm from Texas, and I haven't read too many books based on large cities in TX. This was pretty good. There were some times in the book that I couldn't help but think that the story should be wrapped up, but, overall, it was good. The characters were interesting and funny and the plot was realistic. It's not a perfect book. I am forever cured of saying "Aw man" after I heard the character Raul say it with every line. But Green made up for it by allowing real life and consequences catch up to Dallas. I won't say more because I don't want to ruin the story. Of course by the end, the mystery has been solved and evryone is basically happy. This was a good read and I plan to read the next two in the series.

Fun for Dallasites

I have to state up front, I live in the DFW area and have a degree in fashion design. Liking this book, I am sure, has less to do with plot and more to do with pondering similarities of some of the characters to actual people/companies and imagining those people and businesses in the book. Also, it was fun because I knew exactly where the characters were most of the time, i.e. stuck in traffic on 75 or going up and down the steep hills at Fossil Rim.

I liked Dallas. She is that perfect blend of airhead and genius. But I was disappointed in the choice of narrator. She definitely is not from Texas. This isn't a suspenseful or serious mystery. It has more in common with Shopaholic than Dave Robicheaux, but I liked Dallas better than Shopaholic. The story's conclusion had some flaws but nothing that ruined the book for me.

Terrible Editing

It has been a long time since I've heard a book with such terrible audio editing. There were long pauses where they shouldn't have been and "leaps" into a new scene. The content editing wasn't good either. Example Guy says he's waiting in the restaurant with wine ready to open. Dallas gets there and he asks what wine she wants. Too many inconsistencies.
