Publisher's summary

This anthology of four short stories, serves as a sort of “greatest hits” from Edmond Hamilton, which includes a diverse lineup of stories. From the intimate, thought-provoking short story, Requiem, to the epic space opera Battle for the Stars. You will also find the odd story of Sunfire! and the classic Noir Detective/Sci-Fi hybrid, Door Into Infinity.

Edmond Hamilton was a legend during the Golden Age of Science Fiction. His long line of fantastic stories and space operas in epic worlds began with The Monster God of Mamurth, which was published in the magazine Weird Tales in 1926. However, nobody could have foreseen the sheer volume of written adventures that would come from Hamilton’s genius. The sheer range of concepts from The Daughter of Thor to The Star Stealers, captivated countless imaginations.

If his own imagination wasn’t enough, his story-telling power doubled when he married fellow sci-fi author, Leigh Brackett in 1946, creating a power couple that launched him to the top of his genre. So much was Edmond’s influence, that in the 1960’s he served as the president of the Science Fiction Writers of America, sealing his name in stone as one of the top creative writers of his time.

Some very minor changes have been made to the language. Only a handful of words have been adjusted for clarification and ease of understanding. They make absolutely no difference in the stories themselves.Regardless of whether you are familiar with Edmond’s work or not, these stories are a “blast” (I offer no apologies for my terrible pun), and will take you to worlds beyond and adventures you will never forget. Happy exploring!
