I have heard many non-golfers say, “I’ve often thought about taking up golf. It looks like a nice relaxing game.”
Those of you who are laughing right now, are golfers. I feel your pain. For those who read the quote above and thought, “Yes, it does seem like an enjoyable game.” You are in for a surprise. You see, I wrote “Golfing Without Beer is Madness” for both of you . . . and, to be honest, for myself as well.
This book serves as a warning to would-be golfers. You know not what you seek. What you find here will be quite a surprise to you. If you heed the advice (and warnings) within, you may just have a chance.
For those of you who stumbled upon this crazy game without prior warning (as I did), the pages herein offer an opportunity to commiserate. Pain shared, is pain halved. You will see the truth and you will know that you are not alone.
As for me, writing this book offered me the opportunity to unburden myself, to release the anguish within my tortured golfer’s soul (Too much?). My therapist felt I needed to vent. (She doesn’t golf and could not understand the depths of my pain.)
Lastly, as I take you on this journey, we will all have a chance to laugh. Laughter is the best medicine, or so they say, but beer ain’t far behind!
I will make my case that playing this game, without beer, is madness. BUT, with beer, it can be the relaxing game we always hoped it would be.
So, pour yourself a cold one, and let’s begin!
