About this listen

In Good Day!: The Paul Harvey Story, author Paul J. Batura follows the remarkable life of one of the founding fathers of the news media. Paul Harvey started his career during the Great Depression and narrated America's story day by day, through wars and peace, the threat of communism and the crumbling of old colonial powers, consumer booms and eventual busts.

Whether he was covering racial tensions, terrorist attacks, or which vitamins to take, Paul Harvey articulated the American experience for average people making their way in a world too large for quick comprehension. Harvey brought them that world "in dime store words," with a deep sense of optimism, faith, and patriotism.

Featuring a foreword by Mike Huckabee, Good Day! is the only biography of its kind; Good Day! is Harvey's story, the rest of the story, as he would tell it himself.

"Paul Harvey: a voice of reason, a voice of common sense, an eloquent spokesman for the America and the Americans he loved. Open this book and read 'the rest of the story.'" (Ben Stein, author, actor, economist, and journalist)

This book paints a picture of the man and his life. Not much different than you would think based on his on-air presence. What a great story!

The reader's style is a little monotonous but I still thorouhgly enjoyed the story of Paul, his wife Angel and the history of the early days of radio and Tulsa.

This biography of Paul Harvey portrays an amazingly talented and yet amazingly humble American life. Paul Harvey stooped to conquer, yet became a giant in the annals of radio broadcasting history. Paul and his wife Lynne were trailblazers on the American news and commentary frontier. You owe it to yourself and your progeny to read this book.

An American icon

Listened to this book in 2 days with nonstop anticipation. Like a friendly voice, the story line was easy to follow and the reader/listener really garnered a better understanding of Paul Harvey. With such a great life lived, the author capture key moments that transitioned the chapters in a cinematic fashion. At times I would anticipate hearing Mr Harvey through the dialogue which kept true with the subject of the material. Well done Mr. Batura, well done.

Batura delivers the rest of the story.
