Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Wonderful! Can't get enough of this series!
As a serial audio book listener and fan, I've been "blown away" by very few books and performances. There are a lot of good one's out there, but there few "GREAT" ones.... Books that you won't forget for a long time, if ever.
Gorgon is one of these books.
Book 2 of the fabulous "Sam Green and the WhipEye Great Ones Series", Gorgon exceeds everything great that one is looking for in an audio book experience.
Which makes it such a joy to listen to... and listen to... and listen to again.
I could go through the detailed summary of the book, but, I'll spare you that here. Just read the author's summary, listen to the retail sample...definitely listen to the first book of the series and then....GET THIS BOOK! The series gets better and better.
Geoffrey Saign has won several awards for his books, and it's not surprising. Mr. Saign gives fantasy lovers everything and more that they love the genre for, yet so much more. Drama, real life situations, non stop action and humor. His sense of humor and comedic timing is perfect and placed just where it needs to be, without going overboard.
As I listen to his books, I can actually envision the characters and what they look like. There are characters that are unforgettable. The kind, motherly caracal, Tarath. The sweet and lovely Heshia. The wise cracking parrot, Charlie and the evil Gorgon, who the book is named for. There are dozens of other characters that you'll fall in love with, or want to run away from!
If you are looking for a book (or series) to use those precious credits on, I can guarantee this...
Gorgon (and the other books in the series) are worth every credit used or every dime spent on getting extra credits. This book is THAT good.
The narration by Lauren Holladay is one of the best performances I've heard this year. She's got a lovely voice, but more important, every character has a voice of their own. She makes the character's hers and rocks this book.
Be looking for Geoffrey Saign's name in the future. It's going to be a big one.
Most excellent in every way!
Well done Mr. Saign... well done.

5 stars for Gorgon
This is the second book in the Sam Green and the Whipeye Great Ones series and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first book. I really like how Saign utilizes his returning characters. Even the secondary characters start to grow on you.
The performance by Lauren Holladay is stellar. She's very good. A perfect fit for this book.
I'm hoping that there are plans for another book in the series.
I would get it in a heartbeat.
5 big stars and two thumbs up.

A MUST read! Action, Excitement Abounds
Sam and Jake are dealing with a danger closer to home than ever before. Sam and Jake are about to become more than friends when their parents announce their engagement then fall prey to a huge lesser Komodo dragon! Refusing to give up WhipEye, Sam and Jake must work together to save their parents, Kiraku, their friends and escape from the military/government who is chasing them. Trying to do it all, Sam and Jake go to Kiraku for help in keeping WhipEye and the Jewel of Origin away from Gorgon. What they bring back with them adds fuel to the fire as there are new powerful and selfish players added to the mix.
Geoffrey Saign, the author, does a fantastic job of seamlessly continuing on with the story of Sam and Jake and their friends. He builds more character depth to Sam and Jake by showing their growth emotionally and mentally through their own doubts and trust. Saign gives us more creatures than before, vividly describing their beauty and fierceness.
Book 2 is truly an adventure story that is action-packed and captivating. One cannot put the book down once the action begins. Saign builds the villains and heroes and the story with great stealth and care for the sole purpose of capturing his audience and holding them prisoner until the last word is spoken. You will gasp, you will cry, you will laugh but mostly you will want to know when the next book comes out so you can ride the magnificent rollercoaster that Saign takes you on.
The narrator, Lauren Holladay, is perfect for this series! Her voice helps move the story along as well as endearing Sam, Jake, Charlie, and others to the listener. Holladay makes it her own through her vivacious reading. I enjoy her voice and agility.
This is a series that captivates listeners of all ages!
There were no issues with the audio production or quality of this book. It was clear and well done.

Fantastic!
Gorgon is the second book in the WhipEye Chronicles series. I was stunned that I like this book even better than the first one. And I thought that one was an incredible book.
I can't say enough about author extraordinaire Geoffrey Saign. His characters are rich, their emotions are deep and the book is so captivating, like the first one (WhipEye), that it's hard to stop listening.
Although this would do well as a stand alone book, I would suggest that you start with Book One (WhipEye) and listen to the series in order.
I looked on Audible and I see that there will be another book in the series and I can't for that to be released. I wish Audible would give an option to pre order Geoffrey Saign's books as they do with some other authors. He's as good or better than most and deserves to be treated as such.
Don't miss out on this author.
He is going to be a name to be reckoned with in the Fantasy genre.
Also, the narration was really well done. Lauren Holladay is very good and held my attention. She's a wonderful story teller
The total package is worth every cent/credit!
I wish I could give it more stars.

5 stars for Gorgon
I've listened to the first two books in this series and really enjoyed both of them. I think I like Gorgon a little better, but it is a toss up. Both books are great. The third book has been released and I'm looking forward to listening to that soon.
Geoffrey Saign is a really good writer. This series is the first time I have heard of him and I highly recommend Fantasy fans to check it out.
There is a lot of adventure going on and I never felt like there was a dull moment. The characters are unique and fun. The narrator is great and the voices are unique too.
I'm looking forward to the adventures of Sam and Jake and hope there will be more books in the series.
