About this listen

It has been ten years since Boston attorney David Cavanaugh has spoken to his ex-wife Karin, and twelve years since she left him for another man, a man of power and influence. Now, she has called to ask the impossible. She wants him to represent her husband in the case of the century; the charge - murder, the victim - the Vice President of the United States. Now Cavanaugh faces the toughest decision of his career, a decision he knows will ultimately see him face-off with his past and carve out his future. What he does not realise is that Tom Bradshaw's death is not what it seems. Three more are dead and his enemies will stop at nothing to protect their secret and consolidate their power...©2007 Sydney Bauer. One of the books I have heard

Took a little while to get into the story ,but then it was a homerun out of the park. Interesting to the very last second.

Good story...wish someone else read it

This is my first Sydney Bauer book. The story was very good but I just couldn't get past the guy reading it to truly enjoy it. He sounded like he was reading Shakespeare throughout the entire book rather than a suspense. I'm so frustrated when I can't stand listening to a book simply because of the voice because it seems that this author uses this person a lot and I really would like to get another but I just can't. I miss Frank Mueller so much....

Only Audible title I ever abandoned

I cannot speak for the plot of this book, as I never got far enough to judge it fairly. I almost stopped the book in the first 30 minutes, then decided to give it more time. I lasted about a third of the way into the book. Too much tedious descriptive detail bogs down the character and plot development. Does a reader really need to know the precise style of furniture in every room a character enters?

Great Story, Read is a Little Over Dramatic

I really enjoyed the story and the twists and turns of the plot. I changed my mind about who "John" is throughout the story. My only complaint is that I thought the narrator hyped every little nuance of drama. I felt a little bit like I was listening to "The Bachelor" and thw whole book is "the most dramatic rose ceremony EVER." I would have liked the dramatics toned down quite a bit, and then I would have given the book 5 stars.
