About this listen

DAOs, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, offer quite a unique structure than traditional corporations. The organization, built on code, and governed by code, enables a democratic approach to governance, that differs from the Corporate Board and C-suite model prevalent across the Fortune stock companies you find on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, and just about any other global listing platform. DAOs' major tenants include decentralization, truth, trust, and justice. This is in stark contrast to the corporate board of directors' proxy voting process. While the world suffered from the Covid pandemic, in fact, only one industry process continued unchanged, unabated, and unaffected. That was the appointment of a Board of Directors through DEF-14A voting through the Securities and Exchange Commission, the same government entity that overstepped its mandate against the crypto industry. While this agency focused on crypto, Directors without requisite skills continued to be appointed to board positions at the Fortune 1000 based upon who they knew instead of their true skills they brought to the table. DAOs offer us a substitute based on fact, code, and trust. And they allow for greater participation in governance than just a select few individuals who may have embellished their backgrounds and "track records" greatly. Luckily, we are in the early days of DAO formation, enabling many more who learn about these blockchain-enabled structures to take part in organizational activities in a fair manner.

This twenty-fourth book in the Crypto Hipster Chronicles series, entitled "Governance, Intelligence, and Justice" draws upon four Crypto Hipster Chronicles podcasts. Marcello Mari Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Singularity DAO, talks about how this DAO offers users the opportunity to leverage artificial intelligence to make better trading and investing decisions. Ori Shimony, operations specialist at dOrg, shares his thoughts on Wyoming's approach to DAOs as a forward-thinking, organizational formulation structure to attract more businesses. Jon Allen, founder of EduDAO, discusses how this DAO helps prepare college student groups for careers in blockchain. And James Ryan, founder of Omgeneum, shares his heart-wrenching story about his son Jimmy's fight for survival and the creation of Jimmy's Justice DAO.

I hope you find this book both educational and useful in your crypto and life journey.
