Our story

Traveling is a passion of the Greater than a Tourist book series creator. Lisa studied abroad in college, and for their honeymoon Lisa and her husband toured Europe. During her travels to Malta, an older man tried to give her some advice based on his own experience living on the island since he was a young boy. She was not sure if she should talk to the stranger but was interested in his advice. When traveling to some places she was wary to talk to locals because she was afraid that they weren’t being genuine. Through her travels, Lisa learned how much locals had to share with tourists. Lisa created the Greater Than a Tourist book series to help connect people with locals. A topic that locals are very passionate about sharing.

Tomato Pie!

Now I’ve got to have tomato pie. This audiobook is fun and easy. If I get back to Alabama I’ll listen to it again on the road. It gives you conversation topics which beat “I spy” anytime. Narrator’s voice fits the fun nature of the book beautifully.

Insider Scoop!

This book exceeded my expectations! The travelers' tips made me feel like I really have the inside scoop on not-to-miss, off the beaten track attractions! The narrator made this audiobook easy to follow! She spoke in an engaging way, with good intonations that pulled me in so I stayed focused. I would recommend this audiobook to anyone interested in traveling to/around Alabama, and will definitely "read" more from this author/narrator duo!

LOVED it! :-)

First, full discloser, I was given a free copy of this audio book to try. That being said, this was my very first audible book and my very first audio book ever. So, I was a bit apprehensive at first about whether or not I'd like an audio book. But, it is about Alabama, and I lived near Alabama at one time in my life and have traveled there often … and I am a BIG Alabama fan (Roll TIDE Roll!) … so I thought I'd give it a try.

This book was great! I absolutely loved it! It's well written, interesting, has great travel tips, is perfect for listening to in the car (especially with a total time of just under 90 minutes), and I loved how it placed the city of Tuscaloosa before that other place … roll tide! There are funny parts that made you laugh--and I totally didn't know Alabama had ski slopes or the world's largest statue of a pest! And, it even included FloraBama! I loved learning more about the places I lived near and traveled to often, and it totally made me want to take a trip back there. The other thing that made it great was the reader--a female voice. She was clear, easy to listen to, and read at a pace that was not too slow or fast but at the perfect speed to digest the information. It was perfect. The only thing that I would say was a negative was the fact that I couldn't figure out how to pause or replay parts I wanted to hear again, but that is clearly a user error.
