Publisher's summary

Habakkuk is the prophet with a question mark for a brain! “Why,” he asks, does a God of justice allow injustice to flourish; why does violence prevail? And God provides an answer: “Look at the nations and watch and be utterly amazed, for I am going to do something in your day that you would not believe even if you were told. I am raising up the Babylonians!” Through Habakkuk God takes credit for using the Babylonians as his instrument of judgment on Judah and Jerusalem. This is a stunning book that illustrates not only the depth of God's judgment, but also his methods. Join Logos Bible Study’s Dr. Bill Creasy as he probes Habakkuk, the prophet with a question mark for a brain!

Editorial reviews

Habakkuk is a live recording by Dr. Bill Creasy, part of his Logos Bible Studies series. "Who reads Habakkuk?" asks the best-selling author, teacher, and Christian scholar at the beginning of this lecture. "Not many enough", the answer appears to be, as Creasy ponders the subjects of justice and war through the lens of the Prophet Habakkuk and the story of the Babylonians rising up against Judah and Jerusalem. Christian believers and scholars will appreciate this look at the lesser-known prophet Habakkuk. Dr. Bill Creasy, known as "the Garrison Keiler of Bible studies", lives up to his name with this warm, humorous and wise lecture.

I think I have a ? for a brain too.

I just really enjoy Habakkuk and Dr. Creasy never disappoints IMO. 😁 Definitely worth the extra listen instead of just the quick skim you get from The Minor Prophets pt. 2. I enjoyed both though.

Habakkuk: the questioning prophet

I love how Dr. Creasy explores the different personalities of each different prophet as he goes through the prophetic books. It not only does it make the prophetic books more entertaining, but also relatable, memorable, and understandable. Habakkuk is relatable because he questions God like many of us do. God answers him and he responds with rejoicing in the Lord.

I was expecting more teaching

He read the text, which is the main thing I think a Bible teacher should do. I was hoping for more (especially from Logos) -- more history, more cross-references. I'm studying "Habakkuk" now in one of Kay Arthur's studies (from the book "Lord, Where Are You When Bad Things Happen?", which is a very good study). Even though "Habakkuk" is only 3 chapters long, this "Bible study" should certainly have been longer than 28 minutes. I feel like I wasted an Audible credit. I gave it 3 stars for "performance" because he has a good voice (some Audible narrators don't).
