About this listen

One year after the events of book two, Hachi is trying her best to help lead the new world she created, even as her relationship with Araine is strained. A new series of challenges, both emotional and physical awaits her.

A celebration gone awry, a mission to the belts to rout out the last remnants of the old regime, and ongoing struggles with relationships are now just par for the course for Hachi and Araine. Along with the help of Gemini, Scarlet, Darius, and KAD their goal is to bring safety and a lasting peace to the people of Sol.

But the clock is ticking as Amrita has warned her. Will any of Hachi’s actions matter once they face off against entities known only as the First Children. Unfamiliar beings from Draco that rival the abilities of the Founders and want nothing more than to consume all life within Sol.

Survival in battle, and in bed, is no easy task

This review covers all three books in The Dream Series. Hachi + Araine introduces us to a genetically engineered and thousand-year old delicate feminine warrior with powerful abilities, iron-clad honor, and a strong desire for human connection. Her equally terrifying but more emotionally forward combat gollum are psychically linked, and the pair are formidable opponents in battle, and in bed. Combining immersive descriptions and heightened awareness, the story maintains a consistent and progressing pace throughout all three books while crafting a galaxy on the brink of destruction but with much hope in their citizens' hearts. Strong female protagonists and side-characters abound, with grisly deaths and erotic encounters a regular occurrence. The narration is excellent and each voice is a perfect fit for their character. Sci-fi and fantasy are grounded in a believable woven tale of human and super-human desires for survival, and for each other. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 1.85x.]
