About this listen

Listen about a sexy boo hag named Peaches, werewolves on a date, Mami Wata (an African water spirit) making a deal during an HBCU homecoming, a deadly goddess being born in ancient Kemet, and a variety of other electrifying tales. Violette L. Meiers Hags, Haints, and Hoodoo is a creepy, humorous, entertaining collection of short stories worthy of being acclimated into American and African American folklore to be retold for generations to come.

I am usually a hard copy, page turning reader of Violette’s books. As a GA Peach, born a bred, this book and the Atlanta stomps mentioned gave me nostalgic memories of days past!
Each story felt real and fantastic. I laughed out loud at the Story about Valerie and was left wanting more from the story about Peaches.
Ohhhh and the skin crawler… love em all!!

Violette does it again!!

I love short stories, especially ones steeped in the supernatural and scifi. This book did not disappoint. Taking us to the end of the earth, to walking the rich streets of the ATL or facing powerful gods.

The stories have the character development of the likes of Octavia Butler, and the street smarts of Walter Mosley.

Every story brought you into the world and wouldn't let you go till the end.

I'm very glad this author made her way to this format. I hope she continues to out more of her work here.

A great book of short stories that will leave you wanting more.
