"No panting fan...could have hoped for more....Hannibal is a great popular novel and a plausible candidate for the Pulitzer Prize." (The Guardian)

Great read.

This book is chilling. Full of dark characters and despicable acts. Hannibal Lecter is diabolical, truly frightening and completely compelling.
Harris writes well, detailing the finer points that make the reading much more savory. He also does a decent job of the narrative. I loved it. It's a shame they've abridged such great book. Still very much worth a listen though.

The book is so much better than the film

"Hannibal" the book is a very fitting conclusion to the series of books by Thomas Harris on Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling. The ending of the book is very different to the ending of the film - and whilst I really enjoyed the film the book is so much better - indeed in my opinion it is much deeper than the film.
The film version of "The Silence of the Lambs" is very similar to the book. However this does not hold for "Hannibal". I first saw the film many years ago, but it was only recently that I listened to the audiobook of "Hannibal" - I hadn't expected the audiobook and the film to be as different as they are. Its a great book and Thomas Harris doesn't disappoint as a reader. The ending of the book brings the series to a fitting ending whereas the film leaves many things unfinished..

Highly recommended.
