About this listen

Returning to the town he was raised in was hard, except that Harley can once more see the only golden light of those days. He’d walked away from her because she’d been too young, and he would never be good enough. Harley was back to check on the War Dog Bowser, but Harley can’t help but feel like he never really left. But when Harley snags the War Dog from one of Bowser’s handlers, Harley knows he has to put a stop to this guy forever.

Over all these years, Jasmine has awaited Harley’s return, but he won’t be happy with the changes she’s gone through. When he shows up out of the blue, she knows only complete honesty will be good enough. But it was rough and meant opening up memories of a horrible time in her life.

Harley’s arrival prompts a hidden truth that someone will do anything to stop from coming out. And Harley will do everything he can to get justice for her.

Harley and Jasmine

Tucker left his home town as fast as he could once he graduated from high school. His foster parents were cruel and focused on money, they didn't care about Tucker and they really didn't want Tucker anywhere near their daughter Jasmine. Tucker really liked Jasmin but she was only 16 years old and he had been warned off by her father. Tucker did the only thing he could and left to make a better life for himself but he planned to come back later. Time slipped away and now he is headed back to his home town to check on Bowser a war dog that was adopted and then sold to someone else. As soon as he hits town he meets and old friend who tells him he has a son with Jasmine. Tucker and Jasmine were never together so he knows he does not have a son with her. His little home town has a lot of horrible secrets. Rape charges the police refused to investigate, foster parents forcing their foster child to get a job and then pay to stay with them, drug running as well as animal cruelty. I love this book but the story was heart wrenching at times.

Interesting story to follow

The characters were believable and well described. Tone of this book was much more involved with the feelings of the characters. Good premise. War dog was in the story soon and with another dog. It was interesting. Never did find out if the female was possibly a war dog. Story ran smoothly. One of the things I like about these books is that they are upbeat and positive!
