About this listen

Accepting God’s timing has never been so hard.

When thirty-nine-year-old Adeline Parker’s sisters send her to a baking retreat at a castle nestled in the hills of Kentucky, she’s relieved to spend Christmas away from the reminder of her mother’s passing. Her Christmas plans include:

• Exploring the festive charms of River Cottage

• Eating her weight in bear claws and cinnamon rolls

• Learning how to bake Bûche De NoëlWhat isn’t part of the plan is meeting Luke Bauman.

Luke has always felt called to the mission field. He never expected that when the door finally opened to go to Turkey, he would have a reason to stay in Kentucky. At forty-one, he’s spent most of his adult life focused on carpentry, keeping Reginald the rooster in line, and checking in on his widowed mother. Luke thought he was ready for change—but that was before Adeline stumbled (or sprinted) into his life.

Adeline refuses to distract Luke from his calling, but is there a chance that their meeting is all part of God’s good timing?

Laugh, smile, and walk away happy

Hear the Falling Snow is a sweet, clean romance by Storm Shultz with just the right amount of comedy that's held together by faith. I first read it last summer and it's now offered on Audible, so I've recently listened to it. The book was just as good the second time. In the audiobook I enjoyed how the voice actress handled different voices for the characters, including some with accents. She also did a great job with the male voice. It wasn't overexaggerated in a way that can cause me to pop in and out of the story, which can be a problem with females immitating males. Whatever your preference for "reading," Storm has you covered.

From the start there were sparks with Adeline, a dance instructor, and Luke, who wants to be a missionary. A sweet friendship followed before anything more developed. It was perfect for them.

The story centered around Adeline attending a Christmas cooking retreat and I loved the cooking theme! Mentions of delicious Christmas treats, snow, and Christmas decor were so much fun!

But it isn’t as if the book is all fluff and sugar. Both Adeline and Luke dealt with real issues and as I learned of their pasts. It showed them both to be of high character. Their faith guided their relationship and made for a perfect ending.

Hear the Falling snow is a great read if you want to curl up with a good book to laugh, smile, and walk away happy. I did.

Sweet cozy Christian fiction!

I really enjoyed this sweet cozy Christmas romance. I absolutely loved the fair themes, the quirky rooster, the adorable highland cows, and the setting of a Kentucky castle. I could picture it all. The story was beautiful and the vibes were lovely and cozy to the hilt. The narrator did a great job too!

Loved the narrator

Great book with a cute story that’s generously sprinkled with humor. And I loved the slight southern twang of the narrator, it fit the story perfectly without being over the top or distracting

Such a gentle and heartfelt story

As someone who was also “older” when I got married (and had to move away from all my family when I did), I was immediately drawn to Adeline and Luke’s story. The genuine faith elements, tender response to grief, delicious food descriptions, sweet romance, and humorous situations kept me completely engaged in the story, and the narrator did an excellent job capturing each mood of the characters. This is my favorite Storm Shultz book so far and one I’ll enjoy listening to again in Christmases to come.
