About this listen

Many today believe that the Christian life is rather easy to both obtain and live. But the Puritans saw it as warfare, as wrestling, as "holy violence" to use their term. The Apostle Paul spoke of beating his own body into subjection. And this holy violence is to be brought not only against one's self, but against Satan, the world, and heaven too. And in this confrontation, we must use the weapons God has given us: reading the Word, hearing the Word, prayer, meditation, self-examination, and the due observance of the Lord's Day.

The writings of Thomas Watson, replete with sound doctrine, practical wisdom, and heart-searching application, need no introduction to readers of the Puritans. His profound spirituality, terse style, gripping remarks, practical illustrations, and beauty of expression make him one of the most irresistible, quotable, and devotional of all the Puritans. Heaven Taken by Storm is a precious little volume of practical Christian living and is one of our favorite Puritan titles.

Get ready for your mind to be challenged!

lt is hard to say which one of Watson's works are the better, they are all, as drops of wisdom dripping to a parched non accepting world.
lf one follows Puritan studies get a pencil & note book, and buy the book aswell.
Please do this for the soul you will be the better.

Only the relentless

Extensive work, not for the faint in heart, but definitely for all who are born into the family of God. Great encouragement, and very encouraging must be embraced. God speed!

The Christian life is not passive!

Watson quickly dismisses the notion of our modern day mindset that resting on our profession will push us calmly through the gates of heaven. It is by our desire to see Christ in His fullness that fuels our desire and purpose here on aimed at the gates of heaven, not that we earn the privilege, but our entry is the only thing that will quiet our soul.

Great Content. Narrators Tone Is To Flat & Somber

It is edifying truth but the tone of the narrator and the lack of timely inflection was like running against the Holy Spirits ministerial wind at times.
