About this listen

The Army Reserves took her from basic training and Military Police school to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and then to Bosnia for Operation Joint Guard.

Follow Dory's army career as she navigates through the fun and the difficulties of being a Christian woman, a civilian high-school English teacher, in the masculine world of the Military Police.

This book is for women who are not interested in books about war.

Anyone considering the military should read this, especially women.

I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the book. The author, a female non commissioned office in the Army reserves, reflects on her years in the service. From basic training to deployments in the Gulf War and later in Bosnia by going back through her journals. I think any service member can relate to much of it.

Her experiences as a female NCO is not something I can relate to, but can appreciate. Dory describes some of the unique challenges women have in our armed services (something very few know very little about).

This isn't a fantasy "war hero" book with exaggerated stories, this is real - the good, the bad, the non-glorious.

If you are considering a full or part-time career in the military, or if you are just simply curious what it's like, read this book.
