About this listen

Populations died in the most devastating plague to ravage the planet in the history of man. Billions are dead, leaving just a handful of people scattered across the world, struggling to live the lives they have left. Some chose to struggle with the land, scratching out a living on a piece of property and hoping to make it from one day through to the next. Others, the vigilantes and brigands, chose to prey on the survivors. They hunt, kill and torture those who want nothing more than to be left alone to live in peace. There are no lawmen to stop them, no morals to hold them back and they fear no one. There is no crime they won't commit. The most unfortunate survivors have been infected and mutated into a horror beyond imagination. The not-deads, "zombies," hide in the dark and wait patiently for the unsuspecting. Lightning quick and fearless, the beasts feed on the living flesh of people.

Jerry was a simple farmer living in Alabama. He and his son watched the world fall around them as they continued to plow their fields and tend their cattle. Gone were all the conveniences of modern life from the internet to the local gas stations. Along with a few other survivors, every day they are living on the edge of extinction and want nothing more than to live in peace. They were farmers, fighting the weather, vigilantes and zombies, and working hard just trying to stay alive, until their shelter was threatened by renegade soldiers. Then the simple farmers unleash Southern Hospitality in a way only inventive, scrappy and determined friends can.

Extremely good.

There are few books I've listened to that are good enough to where I'll only be an hour in and really, and I mean Really, hope there's a sequel. This is one of them.

The narrator does a great job and the writing is top notch. I screamed, yes, screamed for joy when I saw there was a sequel. This book is that enjoyable.

So pick it up, you won't be at all disappointed.
