About this listen
Miss Augusta Moir is horrified when the Duke of Meyrick, their host, refuses to give any gifts to the poor on St. Thomas’ day. When the same impoverished widows come again, she takes matters into her own hands and gives away the Duke’s things without his knowledge… only for the Duke to begin searching for one prized possession.
Edward, the Duke of Meyrick, dislikes Christmas time. Hosting the Christmas gathering for the sake of his mother, he ignores those who come calling, even though his conscience pricks him. Noticing how Miss Moir is almost always watching him, Edward finds himself intrigued. Conversations, dancing and decorating the manor house soon have him feeling a little more joyous over the Christmas season, only for the loss of one precious item to darken his mood again.
What will happen to their closeness when the truth comes out? Can Edward ever forgive her for what she has done – and will he ever find what he has lost? Or will something more take its place?

Virtual voice needs some work
The plot revolved around nothing much-basically a short-tempered remark & what results from it. The heroine was moralistic, unlikable, and somewhat hypocritical. Virtual voice sounded like an automaton. The way vv pronounces “mama” is getting on my nerves, Virtual voice uses the modern American “MUM-a” Instead of “ma-MA the way most other narrators of regency books do.
This book was promising at the start, ended up pretty much a washout.

Ok story
The Duke is a little stuffy. The story is OK but only OK. The Christmas scenes are good, but the people are a literal too prim and proper for my taste.
