Mental illness

The Blackburn’s are a close-knit family looking after their own. When Eve met Tim they were thrilled. They worried with her bipolar diagnosis she would never find a man to love her. Despite her mental illness Tim and Eve married. Not long after Eve wanted a baby and went off her medication. During a trip to the Keys she disappeared. Her family is worried and concerned knowing Eve needs her medication to prevent hallucinations and manic episodes.

This story is about Eve’s disappearance and the families desperation to bring her back safely. She’s vulnerable without her medication leaving Eve a danger to herself. This isn’t the first time she’s suffered a psychotic break. However, It is the first time it’s happened while away from family.

This is my first time reading a Kelly Utt book. I must admit her writing style doesn’t line up with my reading style. While I appreciate how Kelly Utt brought awareness to mental illness I wasn’t connecting with the writing style. The words were missing the emotional connection needed to convey the true nature of concern for Eve.

This is my first time listening a virtual voice narration. Had it not been announced prior to starting I wouldn’t have known the difference. It was a decent listen.
