In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

I really loved this book
This was a very well written and very informative book. It helps one to see that there are alternative natural remedies which have great properties for almost every ailment humans experience. I love the way the author uses everyday activities such as traffic situations to describe how these remedies work on different organs in the body. This simplifies concepts and makes them easier to understand. I am definitely starting to look at natural remedies such as garlic, turmeric and ginger with new eyes. I even have the hibiscus and other herbal teas and never looked at the potential benefits. This book has really given me new meaning to natural and herbal remedies. As a clinician it’s good to know there are alternatives to certain medications which usually comes with side effects and herbs can help manage conditions such as hypertension and diabetes even asthma, without these side effects. I also like the chapter which emphasises balance in the use of these remedies and the emphasis on encouraging individuals to speak to their clinicians particularly if they are already on certain medications before embarking on using these remedies to manage certain conditions. I also like that the author demonstrated examples of how these have worked for certain individuals. An invaluable resource. Highly recommend.

A Wealth of Information
It doesn't seem like there are any minor or chronic ailments that are not addressed in this book. I have taken some of the advice from this book to help with anxiety and digestive issues. I also really appreciated the workbook at the end of the book with the journal prompts to help track your progress and how you are feeling as you implement some of the practices in this book. This book is a fantastic resource that I will be using a lot going forward as a reference.

Understanding the magic of nature
Thomas Jones has created a lovely audio title that informs the listener on so many alternative solutions to the chemical-based options that so many of us are becoming more and more weary of. The reality is that so many of our ancestors used more natural means for their betterment and I think that the magic of nature is such an overlooked thing that many of us would do so well with if we would just educate ourselves with the intriguing ability of herbs and plants. They are put there for a reason! And one of those reasons is for us to interact with them! My fave part about this book was the compassionate emphasis on how different properties of herbs can help so many mental conditions, the most noteworthy being stress relief. There is so much more to this than the placebo effect.
